Bills will Lead Marketing for 3 of the Home Services Franchisor’s Brands
Five Star Franchising, a platform of home services franchise opportunities, has named Tyson Bills vice president of marketing for Five Star Bath Solutions, 1-800-Packouts and Card My Yard. He brings 15-plus years of experience with start-up, growth and large-scale brands to the role, and also has a background in internet banking, venture capital and private equity. Other brands under the Five Star Franchising umbrella include Bio-One, Mosquito Shield and Gotcha Covered.
Five Star Franchising’s DRIVE (Driven, Real, Innovative, Vital and Enthusiastic) culture resonated with Bills and solidified his decision to join the company’s leadership team, he said. “I want to be a driver of positive momentum, collaboration, confidence building and an environment where people can thrive and grow. I believe with clarity and communication, culture is directly correlated with productivity,” Bills said. “Coming from a background with Johnson & Johnson, Nestle and Vivint, I’ve experienced brands of all sizes. Growth brands like those at Five Star are flush with opportunity to prioritize value add initiatives and make a real difference.”
Bills said he is focused on learning more about Five Star Franchising’s brands to see what can potentially work across the multiple franchise concepts. “Each of the businesses have healthy business models and margins, which means great marketing opportunities,” he said, adding that he will prioritize helping his colleagues understand what the marketing team does and how valuable marketing is for their businesses.
Ben Fox, head of customer experience at Five Star Franchising, said he believes Bills is a valuable addition to the team because of his marketing experience and track record of success, including securing $144 million in net sales for a Fortune 500 company within his first three years with the organization. “When we began searching for an individual for this role, we were seeking someone who performed at a high level but also dedicated themselves to improving the marketing department and the platform. With his expertise and success, we have found that individual with Tyson,” Fox said.
Attraction to Marketing
The combination of strategy, analytics and creativity attracted Bills to marketing, and starting off as a classically trained brand manager taught him the breadth of marketing’s power for businesses, he said. “I’ve always been drawn to branding, positioning a product or service and storytelling in a way that motivates a consumer to purchase,” Bills said. “Knowing who you are talking to, what they are like and where to find them are critical to any campaign. Effective creative content, a compelling message, hitting the right channels and data-driven insights are also important to a marketing strategy.”
Outside the office, the Brigham Young University graduate enjoys spending time with his wife and their five children, and he lives by his core values of family, faith, friendship, mentorship and fun.
