The Seasoned Franchise Leader is Poised to Steer the Coffee Franchisor to New Heights
Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii has named Gregg Koffler chief development officer (CDO). The announcement comes amid the coffee franchisor’s development surge. He brings two decades of leadership experience to the role.
“I am excited to be part of a brand I admire and am passionate about. I’m eager to work with [CEO Scott Snyder] and the rest of the team at Bad Ass Coffee and help the brand expand all over the country and someday internationally. Bad Ass Coffee has a great history and a bright future ahead, and I am lucky to be part of it,” Koffler said.
He first learned about the coffee franchise after visiting a location in Phoenix, Ariz., and immediately fell in love with the concept. It seemed like fate when he saw a posting for the CDO position on LinkedIn just after visiting the shop. In addition to Bad Ass Coffee’s great business model and brand strategy, the company’s values aligned with his own. “That was the cherry on top for me,” he said.
Snyder is thrilled to have Koffler on board. “Our brand’s rapid franchise growth demanded senior leadership with a proven track record of success in building a development infrastructure that would ensure consistent excellence not just in sales, but in an end-to-end franchise development process. We’re confident that as a respected franchise industry leader, Greg’‘s ‘been there, done that’ experience comes with the know-how to build a solid strategy and implement a development process for Bad Ass Coffee that will deliver future success.”
Franchise Development
Koffler first discovered franchising during the 2008 financial crisis when he shifted from owning a mortgage company to becoming a trainee in the hotel industry. He enjoys watching franchisees grow different brands in their markets and achieve success. Throughout his career, he has held development roles at Paris Baguette, Johnny Rockets, Orangetheory Fitness, Smashburger, Corner Bakery Café, and more.
Koffler believes in supporting franchisees from start to finish. “Our goal as franchisors is to put people in business and make sure they are successful; so what support can we provide to help them accomplish that goal?”
