The Martial Arts Franchise Specializes in Teaching Karate, Krav Maga and Kickboxing
Unleashed Brands, an umbrella franchise company of child enrichment brands, appointed Justin Waltz senior vice president of franchise operations for Premier Martial Arts (PMA). He will spearhead PMA’s new studio opening processes and performance, aid franchisees through training, and lead communications and franchisee events. Other concepts under Unleashed’s umbrella include Urban Air Adventure Park, The Little Gym, Snapology, Class 101, and XP League.
“I’ve had the opportunity to work in home services, retail, wellness, and even a little bit of food service, and by far one of my favorite spaces to work is kids’ wellness. PMA was a great opportunity because we have a phenomenal established brand across the country with franchise owners who are passionate about helping their communities and being involved in kids’ enrichment,” Waltz said.
He was approached by PMA president Scott Thompson about the opportunity, and between the vision and values that Unleashed Brands brings to the organization as well as the opportunity to grow the martial arts franchise, Waltz couldn’t say no. He looks forward to collaborating with PMA franchisees and sharing best practices across the organization.
Thomspon is thrilled to have Waltz take on this role. “His expertise in franchising is unmatched and will be key in developing a high level of franchisee training, and engagement. With Justin’s unwavering dedication to PMA’s mission of ‘Empowering Kids Through Martial Arts,’ we are confident he will seize new opportunities for franchisees that will charter a new path towards long-term revenue growth, profitability, and success.”
Since children’s wellness and enrichment are so important, PMA has the opportunity to serve the community and help kids become more active, Waltz noted. “We help in focus, discipline and we teach incredible life skills, and really help kids shine. That is an opportunity that we cannot take for granted. For that reason, it’s really special to help children within the PMA community.” In his view, Unleashed is driving the charge in bringing together the best leaders, technology and brands to benefit franchisees across the platform.
Waltz got his start in franchising over two decades ago with a small junk removal company. From that experience, he learned about collaboration and engagement as well as unit level economics and key performance indicators. For him, it was a great first step into franchising where he gained great mentors.
In his experience, Waltz believes that the most important thing aspiring entrepreneurs should do before making an investment is love the concept and community that they’ll be serving. He added that candidates should seek franchises that provide an abundance of support as well as technology, strategy, marketing, financing and more.
