Meyers Previously Served as the Pizza Franchise’s Senior Vice President of Finance and Business Intelligence

The Marco’s Pizza franchise has promoted John Meyers to chief operating officer (COO). Previously serving as Marco’s senior vice president of finance and business intelligence, Meyers assumes the new position as the pizza franchise continues to expand its global footprint. He brings more than 25 years of experience to the position and will oversee day-to-day operations as well as develop and implement new technologies that drive sales and streamline operations.

Meyers said he initially was drawn to Marco’s because he was impressed with the brand’s leadership team, which includes Jack Butorac, chairman and co-CEO; Tony Libardi, president and co-CEO; Steve Shields, franchise development manager; and Jeff Tisdel, senior franchise business director. “The leadership team has a unified vision to grow the brand and the skills and experience to make it happen,” Meyers said. He cites the pizza franchise’s quality product and focus on marketing as additional selling points.

Libardi commended Meyers for consistently demonstrating “exceptional leadership, strategic vision and a deep commitment to our brand values, and this promotion is a testament to his hard work and invaluable contributions to our company’s success. I am confident that he will excel in this new role, leveraging his experience and insights to drive operational excellence and elevate our brand to new heights.”

A Restaurant Veteran

Meyers has been in and around the restaurant industry for 30 years. He got his start in operations at a regional chain in Rockford, Ill. Prior to joining Marco’s, Meyers worked for Darden Restaurants and The Walt Disney Company where he gained experience using data analytics to strategically streamline restaurant operations.

Over the course of his career, Meyers said he has seen and appreciated the benefits of franchising, including brand recognition, restaurant operating systems and the backing of a franchisor.

Based on his experience, Meyers believes the recipe for success is in the franchising business model and includes “helping the franchisees grow top line and bottom line” by focusing on marketing and labor analytical tools. As COO, Marcos looks forward to spending more time in Marco’s Pizza locations meeting with franchisees and their teams, and applying what he learns in the field to better support entrepreneurs in their journeys as business owners.
