Gossel Brings PR and Television Production Experience to the Role

Broken Yolk Cafe, a California-based breakfast franchise, has named Conner Gossel director of marketing. He brings strong skills in media and communication, as well as public relations experience to the position.

“The franchise’s stage of growth was exactly what I had been seeking: an emerging restaurant concept with category-leading potential, primed to benefit from modern marketing strategies,” said Gossel, who became familiar with the regional full-service restaurant concept while he was working in Phoenix and Broken Yolk was building out its footprint in the Southwest. “When this role became available, I quickly put myself forward for consideration. After a few rounds of interviews with the brand’s president, vice president of franchise development and director of operations, my wife and I found ourselves packing things up in the desert for a new chapter in San Diego,” where the brand is headquartered.

Gossel’s focus has been on rolling out a more sophisticated, multifaceted marketing strategy that prioritizes guest experience and retention, while communicating the value of the Broken Yolk Cafe franchise opportunity to candidates. “This strategy focuses on enhancing local store support for our partners around the country, implementing operational improvements, investing in more robust avenues for media acquisition and leaning into our owned channels like never before,” he said. “In doing so, we’ll lay the foundation for Broken Yolk Cafe to evolve beyond a well-known regional name into a restaurant industry leader capable of expanding its footprint from coast to coast.”

President John Gelastopoulos said he is excited to have Gossel on board. “Competition within our category has grown quite a bit over the years, but that’s only sharpened our approach to developing the brand and interacting with the guest,” Gelastopoulos said. “Conner brings a fresh take on our marketing direction that will push the envelope even further; connecting Broken Yolk with more communities and consumers than ever over these next few years.”

Professional Background

Gossel’s experience includes working for elected and aspiring public officials and building marketing campaigns for clients at Jexan Marketing and Fishman PR, which specializes in the franchising space. He also is a freelance location scout for the Discovery and Travel channels, identifying episode sites for shows including “Ghost Adventures,” “Portals to Hells” and “Destination Fear.”

In his work with franchising clients, Gossel said he recognized how the success of any franchise starts at the local level. “If franchisee support is at the heart of your initiatives, whether in SEO, web development, event management, ad spend, loyalty programs or social engagement, you’re on the right track,” he said. “Calculated focus on the micro often leads to macro success – with the right strategic planning, of course.”

Gossel holds a bachelor of arts degree focused in political science and government from The Ohio State University.
