Sica’s Accomplishments Prompted his Promotion with the Battery, Light Bulb, and Smart Phone and Tablet Repair Franchise
Batteries Plus, a leading battery, light bulb and smartphone and tablet repair franchise, has promoted Jon Sica to chief operating officer (COO). In this role, Sica will oversee the brand’s commercial sales and retail operations support. He previously served as chief business officer.
“I’m most excited about the opportunity to transform Batteries Plus from a best kept secret that customers’ love into a national powerhouse. I’m passionate about building teams and empowering our franchisees to reach their full potential, and I look forward to leading strategic initiatives and developing leaders that will further solidify Batteries Plus as a leader in the power solutions industry,” Sica said.
Since Sica joined Batteries Plus in 2019 as chief strategy and development officer, the brand has shifted its focus to a franchisee-first approach by revamping its franchise operations, introducing new store development methods, and investing in AI-powered real estate analytics.

CEO Scott Williams credited Sica with some of the company’s accomplishments. “Jon’s ability to build and empower strong, diverse teams has led to some of our greatest successes in the last five years. Great execution is key to our culture and results, and Jon is the perfect choice to guide the teams who are driving it every day.”
An Unconventional Journey
Sica describes his journey into franchising as unconventional. Initially beginning his career in marketing and e-commerce with outdoor giant Cabela’s, Sica quickly found his passion for statistical process improvement. This led him to delve into various facets of business operations and strategy. His first experience in franchising was with Whataburger, where he experienced firsthand the power of a people-centric culture in driving success. “The collaborative spirit and shared goals within the franchise community make it an incredibly rewarding industry,” he said.
While the fast-food and retail industries may seem different, Sica said the fundamentals of franchising and business operations remain constant. “At its core, franchising is about delivering exceptional experiences and value to customers, regardless of the product or service. While the specifics may vary, the principles of leadership, teamwork and innovation are universal across industries.”
Keys to Growth
Sica is a proponent of franchisors prioritizing culture, franchisee profit and service differentiation in order to grow. “Every great franchise is built on a bedrock of culture. The old adage that ‘culture eats strategy for breakfast’ remains true, and as a franchise leader you need to be a highly visible torch bearer for a culture focused on operational excellence,” he said. “You also have to build a franchisor culture that’s single-minded about the pursuit of franchisee profit. Every metric – royalty growth, brand awareness, transaction growth – gets better with net unit growth.”
Outside of his professional endeavors, Sica said his greatest joy comes from being a husband and father of four. His family values his abilities as an amateur bike mechanic, human pitching machine and short order cook, and spending time with them means more to him than any business accolade.
