Vaughan’s Promotion Comes as the Fast-Casual Franchise Continues National and International Expansion
Slim Chickens, an Arkansas-based fast-casual franchise, has promoted Christina Vaughan to chief operating officer. Previously serving as senior vice president of operations, she now will focus on initiatives that support the company’s growth, such as advancing drive-through technology, digital integration and streamlined training programs. Her promotion comes as the brand expands across the U.S. and the world.
“It’s an exciting time to step into this role. I am fully committed to ensuring that we not only meet but exceed our key objectives as we work closely with our franchisees to remain best-in-class,” Vaughan said. “Together, we will continue to innovate, elevate our guest experiences and drive sustainable growth across all markets.”
Vaughan said the leadership team’s dedication to customer service and franchisee success was evident from their earliest discussions. “The team is deeply committed to building strong, collaborative relationships with franchisees and fostering a culture rooted in recognition, integrity and passion.”

Vaughan added that Slim Chickens’ fresh menu and Southern hospitality help it stand out in the fast-casual space. “Moving forward, we’re positioned to positively impact the industry by continuing to innovate and setting new standards for service and product quality that resonate with guests,” she said.
An Experienced Leadership Team
CEO Tom Gordon said Vaughan’s passion for the fast-causal brand makes her an invaluable asset to the team. “Her leadership will be instrumental as we continue expanding our footprint across the U.S. and beyond,” he said. “The transition is a significant moment for the brand, one that sets us up for future success.”
Sam Rothschild, the former COO who will transition to the role of chief strategy officer, said working alongside Vaughan has been a privilege. “Christina is a results-driven leader highly respected by our franchisees, support center and vendor community. I am excited to continue working with her in her new role where her dedication and expertise will undoubtedly contribute to our ongoing success,” Rothschild said.
Passion for Food Franchising
Vaughan’s introduction to franchising came during her tenure with Sonic Drive-In where she served in various leadership roles and ultimately led the brand as president. Vaughan also has served as senior vice president of operations for Steak n Shake.
She said she’s inspired by franchisees who bring passion and creativity to improving the business. “When a franchisor and franchisee collaborate closely, incredible things can happen.”
Improving Operational Efficiencies
Vaughan said franchisors in the food service industry can elevate their operations effectively and efficiently by focusing on digital ordering and delivery, data-driven insights, employee training and inventory control. “Streamlining digital ordering, exploring self-order kiosks and enhancing the drive-through experience can reduce wait times and provide convenience,” she said. “Sales data, customer feedback and operational metrics can help entrepreneurs make informed decisions that drive sales and reduce waste. Additionally, implementing a training platform allows staff to learn at their own pace, with modules accessible on demand to support ongoing development. It is also important to use predictive analytics for inventory to reduce waste and manage costs more effectively, benefitting both corporate and franchisee operations.”
