From a Multi-Unit Owner to Executive Vice President, Wireless Zone’s Latest Leadership Appointment Will Focus on 3 Areas to Facilitate Franchise Growth
- Al Pellecchia, previously a multi-unit Wireless Zone franchisee, has become the brand’s new executive vice president, bringing with him decades of experience in cellphone services with several major companies.
- After joining Wireless Zone in 2009, he eventually owned 12 Wireless Zone stores with three in development before stepping into this new role.
- Wireless Zone has received accolades for having an excellent workplace culture and for being a high-performing wireless franchise.
- Round Room is the parent company of Wireless Zone.
Al Pellecchia, who was recently named executive vice president of the nation’s largest Verizon franchise, has concrete plans for growing the brand. He joined Wireless Zone more than 15 years ago and brings a franchisee’s perspective – plus many years of cellphone industry experience – to his new role.
Born and raised in the Boston area, Pellecchia has moved up the ranks of the phone industry since starting his career. “I sold phones while I was in college. Through that job, I met an independent retailer that hired me to run some locations. And from there I developed a large network of people within the industry and have worked for brands like AT&T, Nextel and Sprint.”
He ultimately landed back at his starting point, a mall kiosk. While serving customers at that Verizon kiosk, Pellecchia built a reputation for outstanding customer service.
“My work there – and the recognition that came with it – opened more doors for me. I joined the Wireless Zone network as a franchisee in 2009, and I owned 12 stores spread across six states.”
Looking Ahead as VP
Pellecchia (above) says he’s excited about leveraging his experience as a multi-unit owner with the wireless franchise as he works in his new corporate position at Wireless Zone.
“After working alongside other Wellness Zone franchisees for many years, I’ve developed great relationships with a lot of them, and now I’ll get to know all of the others. I know that every brand’s strength comes from the people behind it, and I’ll make sure every Wireless Zone owner is well-supported.”
Booming Wireless Services Industry
Certainly Wireless Zone has ample potential for its franchise owners to thrive. As of November 2024, Pew Research noted that 98% of Americans own a cellphone. The Pew report also noted that 15% of U.S. adults are “smartphone-only” internet users; they have a smartphone but do not subscribe to a broadband service at their homes.
Wireless Zone’s services have wide-ranging appeal for American consumers, including:
- Various smartphone plans, some of which support annual upgrades.
- 5G technology.
- Verizon Small Business, which assists entrepreneurs through technologies such as point-of-sale tablets and mobile Wi-Fi hotspots.
- Redux, which can save wet electronics (smartphones, portable fitness devices, tablets, portable gaming devices, earbuds and more) and their data.
- Home internet services.
Wireless Zone Achievements
Pellecchia applauds the steps that Wireless Zone already has taken, particularly its restructuring of managerial roles to allow for more frequent store visits. That has resulted in greater employee engagement and an uptick in sales, he says.
Wireless Zone’s progress hasn’t gone unnoticed. The brand reached No. 67 on Franchise Times’ Top 400 list for 2025 and led its category in growth, with a 41% increase in systemwide sales. The wireless franchise also moved up from 200th place in 2024 to 91st place this year in Entrepreneur magazine’s Franchise 500 rankings.
Pellecchia plans to build on those accomplishments by increasing efficiency through automation, collaborating with Wireless Zone franchisees and colleagues to identify areas for improvement, and further educating owners about all services so that they’re used efficiently.
Scott Moorehead, CEO at Round Room, the parent company of Wireless Zone, compliments Pellecchia as “a great leader and representative of Wireless Zone. His deep knowledge of the industry is a huge asset for us. We’re on our way to becoming the first wireless franchise with 1,000 locations, and I’m confident that Al’s vision will take us there.”
