Batty Plans to Utilize His Construction Experience to Help Grow the Beverage Franchise
Swig, a Utah-based beverage franchise, has tapped Daniel Batty as chief development officer. Batty’s appointment comes as the brand expands across North America. With more than two decades of experience in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) segment, Batty has been involved in more than 2,000 development projects. Batty leverages his development acumen to continue Swig’s growth trajectory, which includes more than 80 stores open, 500 franchise stores signed and hundreds more corporate stores in the works. In addition to Batty, the beverage franchise has welcomed CMO Dylan Roeder, COO Chase Wardrop and CFO Bill Ayers within the last year.
Batty became acquainted with leaders of Savory Fund, a part owner of Swig, while attending various industry events in the QSR environment. He said the emerging beverage franchise impressed him so much that he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to join the leadership team.
“Working alongside a team of passionate and driven people has been so inspiring. I truly feel aligned with the culture of the brand and the vision of the founder, Nicole Tanner. My past experience has been built upon a lot of good – and bad – decisions that have shaped my career. I hope to take that experience and fine-tune it to deliver on the commitments to the franchisees and maximize the corporate goals,” Batty said.

CEO Alex Dunn praised Batty as a game changer who is uniquely qualified to help lead Swig’s expansion across North America. “Swig is more than a beverage company; we need leaders who understand our mission of fostering human connections and sharing ‘happiness in a cup.’ It’s clear Daniel is cut from the same cultural cloth, and we’re honored to have him join team Swig,” Dunn said.
The World of Construction
Batty’s father owned a contracting business, which his two brothers now lead. Although he chose not to enter the family business, Batty did gain knowledge and experience in construction that served him well while working at McDonald’s, Dutch Bros Coffee, CKE Restaurants and Dunkin’ Brands. He described the QSR sector as being filled with entrepreneurial spirit, and he said he is inspired to be working with so many great leaders who are passionate, excited and transparent in their struggles.
Batty has a master’s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s degree in political science from California State University, Fullerton.
