Obesity is one of today’s greatest health crises.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), more than 2 in 5 U.S. adults – nearly 125 million people – are overweight, with many facing related conditions including diabetes and heart disease.

Not surprisingly, myriad industries have sprung up to treat obesity, with solutions ranging from diet plans to medications to fitness fads. Of those, one brand that has found long-term industry success is Medi-Weightloss, a weight loss franchise known for delivering results.

Founded in 2005 by a team of healthcare professionals and entrepreneurs, Medi-Weightloss is a medically supervised program that provides evidence-based weight loss solutions at more than 100 locations across the U.S.

The program is a combination of nutrition, behavior modification, physical activity guidance, and access to medications (including natural and pharmaceutical GLP-1 options).

“The goal is to help patients lose weight, improve their health, and change their lives. And we are a leader in the field,” says Brian Petranick, CEO of Medi-Weightloss.

Working with REP’M Group

With growing demand for medical weight loss solutions, this is a prime time to enter the category.

According to a report from Business Research Company, the weight loss services market size has grown from $16.81 billion in 2024 to $18.25 billion in 2025, a compound annual growth rate of 8.5%.

To help further its expansion, Medi-Weightloss has teamed with REP’M Group, a franchise development group that helps brands to grow and expand by providing marketing support, real estate and construction guidance. The group has developed considerable expertise in the health and wellness arena, says Cary Tober of REP’M Group. “We focus on brands that significantly enhance a consumer’s lifestyle, happiness, and/or wellness, so this is a natural fit for us,” says Tober.

Nick Sheehan, founder and managing partner of REP’M Group, sees strong potential in the collaboration. “We’re proud to partner with Medi-Weightloss and support their next phase of growth. The brand is a standout in the medical wellness space, and our team is ready to help scale their vision nationwide.”

How Does it Work?

The program is designed for adults and adolescents who typically have at least 20 and up to 300 pounds to lose. Supervised by a medical professional, each patient receives an individualized weight loss and wellness plan.

Typically, patients lose an average of 6.4 pounds the first week and 14 pounds the first month.

“We tailor our approach to each individual’s needs, using tools like lab testing, body composition analysis, nutrition planning, behavior modification, and prescription medication when appropriate,” explains Petranick. “We also monitor our patients closely to make sure they are losing weight safely.”

What also keeps Medi-Weightloss top of market is its commitment to innovation. The company has launched proprietary supplements, added behavioral counseling, and has integrated the use of GLP-1 medications.

Ready-to-Run System

Investors do not need a medical background to own a franchise, says Petranick. However, every team must include a clinical staff of licensed medical providers. A strong business background is key for franchisees, as is a commitment to build a service-focused team. Most importantly: potential owners should be passionate about health and wellness.

Clinics are operated by a team that includes a medical provider (such as a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant), a medical assistant, and front-desk or patient support staff.

Franchisees oversee business operations, marketing, and team development while ensuring clinical quality and service excellence.

The company provides onboarding and robust training and support for every team, including training in obesity medicine and its own clinical protocols. They also provide assistance in site selection, marketing and operations.

Providing a proven model with 20 years of history helps franchisees launch and run clinics with confidence, providing a “ready-to-run” system.

“This allows franchisees to focus on delivering value rather than starting from scratch, allowing them to launch as efficiently as possible,” says Charolette Obringer, COO of Medi-Weightloss.

A Mission, Not a Business

Medi Weightloss franchise business

For both patients and investors, Medi-Weightloss stands out in a crowded weight loss field by offering more than just quick results. The weight loss franchise prides itself on its people-centered, science-backed pathway to sustainable success.

“We’re looking for partners who are driven to make a difference and ready to lead a team in delivering transformative health outcomes in their communities. This is happy healthcare!” says Petranick.

For many owners, some of whom began as Medi-Weightloss patients themselves, it’s more than just a business; it’s a mission to change lives.

Annie Miller found success as a client of Medi, losing over 80 pounds in her personal wellness journey. She believed so deeply in the model, that when the opportunity presented to acquire the business from the previous owner, she jumped at the chance. “I said to my husband, ‘We have to do it. We know the impact this program has on people’s lives.’”

A Bright Future

With REP’M Group on board, Medi-Weightloss is set to scale smarter and faster, without losing sight of the personalized care that sets it apart. By combining REP’M’s franchise expertise with Medi-Weightloss’s proven business model, the brand is poised to reach more communities nationwide, bringing science-backed weight loss and wellness to those who need it most. As Sheehan puts it, “This isn’t just about growing a brand — it’s about changing lives, coast to coast.”
