Wheeler Brings 25-Plus Years in Marketing to the Role with the Franchise
K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel, a boarding and dog day care franchise, has named Dan Wheeler chief marketing officer. As CMO, Wheeler focuses on expanding K9 Resorts brand awareness and further driving revenue growth across both franchise and corporate-owned locations. He brings 25-plus years of marketing experience to the position.
“K9 Resorts has already set the gold standard in pet care, but as we continue to grow, so does the potential to further amplify our brand’s impact,” Wheeler said. “I’m excited to build meaningful connections within our communities to ensure that K9 Resorts remains the premier choice for luxury dog boarding and day care.”
The devoted dog dad said he empathizes with others who have concerns when looking for a day care for their dogs. “How will they be treated? What are the accommodations like? Will they be ignored and lonely? Will they get along with the other dogs in the facility?” he said. “I am confident the new clients our marketing efforts bring in will be so blown away, and they will want to help spread the word about how exceptional the K9 Resorts experience truly is.”
Dog day care and boarding will remain in demand because of trends including increased pet ownership and spending, urbanization and technological advancements, Wheeler said. “With the strong foundation we already have in place, the future looks very bright for K9 Resorts and our franchise partners. I’m super excited to see us going after it with the same passion and commitment to excellence that got us to where we are today.”
Jason Parker, co-founder and CEO of K9 Resorts, said Wheeler’s expertise and forward-thinking approach make him a great asset to the leadership team. “With him at the helm of our marketing efforts, we’re confident that our brand will strengthen its position as a leader in the pet boarding and day care sector and enhance the exceptional experiences we offer to dogs in our world-class accommodations,” Parker said.
Marketing for Different Industries
Wheeler has spent most of his career in franchise-based businesses, including Dunkin’ and Wahlburgers. He most recently served as CMO of Uncle Julio’s Restaurant Group, where he revitalized a 35-year-old legacy brand through elevated guest experiences and innovative marketing strategies. “Building relationships with franchise partners and company-owned operators has been one the most rewarding aspects of my career,” he said. “I’ve enjoyed seeing them flourish, and knowing my teams have played a part in their success is something I truly cherish.”
As an observer of people and lover of disruptive brands, Wheeler said there are more similarities than differences across industries from a marketing standpoint. “The big adjustment in pet care, of course, is to focus on the needs of the pet parents and prioritize the experience for their beloved pet. That is something our K9 Resorts teams are exceptional at.”
During his leisure time, Wheeler enjoys spending time with his wife, four children and two rescue dogs. He also likes to cook, listen to music and explore the outdoors.
