Sharma Continues the Legacy of her Parents, the Educational Franchise Founders
Huntington Learning Center, a franchise providing K-12 tutoring and test preparation services, has announced Anne Huntington Sharma’s appointment to chief executive officer in an expanded role that includes continuing to serve as president. Sharma, the daughter of founders Dr. Raymond and Eileen Huntington, has served as president since 2019, playing a central role in business strategy and systemwide growth. Under her leadership, Huntington Learning Center pivoted to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, which ensured uninterrupted service across the brand’s centers.
“I am excited to continue driving growth and impact for both our students and our franchisees. This is such a pivotal moment in education,” Sharma said. “Technology and shifting family needs are transforming how we think about learning. For Huntington, that means innovating while staying true to our mission. We are expanding hybrid learning options, introducing new digital tools and continuing to focus on building confidence and life skills along with academics. It is energizing to lead a company that is growing while also helping shape the future of education.”
Sharma said she is thrilled to carry forward the legacy of her parents, who serve as board co-chairs and will work with Sharma through this transition. “My parents built Huntington on the belief that every student can learn and deserves the chance to succeed,” Sharma said. “That mission still drives everything we do today. Continuing their legacy means protecting what makes Huntington special, our individualized approach and our proven results, while also evolving to meet the needs of the next generation. It is deeply meaningful to see how that original vision has scaled into nearly 300 centers across the country helping millions of students reach their potential.”
Eileen Huntington said her daughter’s ability to keep the brand thriving throughout the COVID-19 pandemic is a testament to her strength as a leader. “She has a proven ability to steer the organization through challenges while positioning us for long-term growth. The board is confident that under her leadership, Huntington Learning Center will continue to thrive and expand its impact on students nationwide,” Huntington said.
Making an Impact Through Innovation
Huntington Learning Center’s ongoing impact on students comes from innovation, Sharma said. “We remain focused on individualized instruction, certified teachers and measurable outcomes through our mission to give every student the best education possible. What has evolved is how we deliver those results. We have embraced technology to make learning more flexible and accessible. Our online tutoring and test prep platform, which began during the pandemic, is now a key part of our model. Families can choose in-center or online instruction, or a mix of both, depending on their needs,” she said.
As president, Sharma said she has enjoyed working closely with franchisees and corporate teams alike, which has shaped her approach to leadership. “I have learned the importance of listening first, empowering people to take ownership and creating an environment that values collaboration and creativity. I also believe that real growth happens when everyone is aligned. When our corporate team and franchise network move together toward shared goals, that is when we make the greatest impact.”
She said transparency and intentionality are critical to her leadership philosophy. “I encourage open communication, creativity and initiative while also ensuring we stay focused on results. At the end of the day, leadership is not about having all the answers. It is about creating an environment where others can thrive and where everyone feels valued and heard.”
In addition to her leadership at Huntington, Sharma has produced award-winning documentaries and served on multiple nonprofit boards.
