270 winners will receive a total of $270,000 from GPS Hospitality
GPS Hospitality, a franchisee owning nearly 400 Burger King restaurants, will award Burger King Foundation Scholarships to 270 recipients in 10 states. Since 2013, GPS Hospitality has given nearly $1.4 million in scholarships to 1,388 students.
The merit-based Burger King Foundation Scholarships primarily go to graduating high school seniors. Factors in selection are the students’ grade point average and the impact that they have had within their schools and communities by their volunteer service as well as their work experience. Burger King employees and their family members pursuing a traditional post-secondary education or enrichment programs also are eligible to apply for the scholarships.
The winners for 2021 are 48 employees and 222 graduating seniors in GPS Hospitality locales. The Burger King Foundation Scholarships are funded 100 percent through guest contributions at restaurants.
The Burger King Foundation, which was established in 2000, has given 42,000-plus deserving students a total of more than $48 million to be used to further their educations.
Michael Lippert, president of GPS Hospitality, praised the students for their hard work, which aligns with the company’s philosophy. “Setting and exceeding goals are core values at GPS Hospitality, and we have 270 scholars who are on their way to achieving their goals. Supporting their academic journey is an honor not only for me, but for the countless team members whose efforts with our generous guests converted $1 donations into $270,000 in scholarship funding. Kudos to our restaurant teams for their amazing work.”
