The Sports Media and Marketing Veteran has 20-Plus Years of Experience
D1 Training, a leading fitness franchise, has named Dom Bonvissuto director of media and content. Utilizing more than two decades of experience in sports media and marketing, he oversees and implements D1’s national content strategy and helps establish the fitness brand’s voice and tone. He also leads D1’s national email newsletter and works with the company’s 115-plus franchise locations and more than 30,000 member athletes.
Bonvissuto said he sought out D1 Training because of his positive past experiences with the brand, including writing a profile of founder and CEO Will Bartholomew for the now defunct The City Paper in 2003. “D1 sits at the intersection of sports and lifestyle, and I’m excited about helping bridge those two areas and maximizing opportunities through smart, meaningful content,” Bonvissuto said.
Bartholomew said he is thrilled to have someone of Bonvissuto’s caliber and character on the team. “His experience in sports media and marketing will be a valuable asset as D1 continues to grow nationally. Between Dom’s past and D1’s future, the possibilities are limitless,” Bartholomew said.

Bonvissuto said he believes D1 Training will positively shape the future of franchising by interjecting passion and energy. “I think our model can inspire other organizations that are thinking of franchising and be inspired by how we’ve done it,” he said.
Sports and Marketing Expert
Bonvissuto has written and edited for NBC Sports, Fox and Sports Illustrated, including editing NFL writer Peter King’s signature SI column, “Monday Morning Quarterback,” which was later changed to “Football Morning in America,” for more than 13 years. Other career highlights include leading on-site coverage at several Super Bowls and NFL drafts and combines.
“My career has evolved over the past 20 years and taken me to some really cool places and some really great companies,” he said. “Along the way, I’ve built a huge network of co-workers, colleagues, friends and acquaintances in the sports industry and will utilize those relationships to help lift the D1 brand even higher.”
The D1 Training role represents Bonvissuto’s first venture in franchising, and he recalls how illuminating it was to attend the fitness brand’s annual franchise summit during his first week on the job. ”It was so enlightening to meet the hundreds of franchisees and general managers of all the D1 facilities across the country,” he said. “I loved how connected we all felt, even though many of us hadn’t met before. We are all on the same team.”
When he isn’t on the clock, Bonvissuto enjoys watching his 14-year-old son compete in baseball, tennis and chess. The University of Dayton alum also is a fan of the Dayton Flyers basketball team and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
