The Window Coverings Industry Veteran Joined the Budget Blinds Franchise in 2001

Budget Blinds, a leading window coverings business owned by Home Franchise Concepts, has promoted Tracy Christman to chief operating officer. Christman has worked with Budget Blinds for more than 20 years, previously serving as the brand’s executive vice president of product development and strategy. As COO, she utilizes her experience to drive companywide improvements by identifying inefficiencies and implementing cohesive best practices.

Christman said she seeks to nurture a welcoming culture that empowers franchisees. “My focus is on building streamlined systems that allow franchisees to thrive, feel supported and see themselves as true partners in our shared success,” she said. “It’s not just about efficiency; it’s about fostering strong, collaborative relationships where franchisees have the tools, resources and training they need to grow. Together, we will strengthen our foundation for long-term success and ensure that everyone feels valued and connected as we move forward.”

Christman became aware of Budget Blinds when she worked at M & B Window Fashions, a division of Hunter Douglas Inc., a supplier to Budget Blinds. “Budget Blinds was one of my key customers, and I had the privilege of helping develop the overall program – crafting unique value propositions and creating points of differentiation to strengthen our collaboration,” she said. “When I transitioned from Hunter Douglas to Budget Blinds, I had the opportunity to build the Budget Blinds Vendor Alliance as we know it today, further deepening my commitment to supporting our franchisees through strong, value-added vendor partnerships.”

She cited scalability as a key selling point for Budget Blinds’ business model. “The ability to expand and grow without sacrificing quality, operational efficiency or brand consistency is a key strength,” she said. “Another aspect I deeply value is the meaningful relationships I have built over the past 24 years with our franchisees, which I continue to nurture alongside my team. The shared commitment we all have is central to the success and growth we will continue to achieve together.”

Since joining Budget Blinds in 2001 as manager of the Vendor Alliance program, Christman said she has witnessed the brand’s extraordinary growth and transformation. For example, by expanding its global sourcing and manufacturing capabilities, the window coverings franchise has access to a broader selection of high-quality products at competitive prices, she said. “One of the most exciting changes has been the introduction of smart home technology, with Budget Blinds leading the charge in offering motorized and automated window treatments. The company’s dedication to customization has also grown, empowering customers to create truly unique and personalized window treatments.”

Christman said Budget Blinds’ growth and adaptations to changing customer needs has been impressive. “Being part of a company that consistently sets the standard in both product quality and customer service is something I’m truly proud of,” she said. “As we look to the future, I’m excited to see how Budget Blinds will continue to lead the industry with groundbreaking products and solutions, making homes smarter and more personalized than ever before.”

A Growing Team

In addition to promoting Christman, Budget Blinds also has elevated Amy Campbell to vice president of marketing of product design and strategy, and Nick Petropoulos to director of information technologies.

Heather Nykolaychuk, president of Budget Blinds, said these strategic changes will redefine Budget Blinds’ presence in the window coverings industry. “We recently introduced a new business model for our franchisees to enhance brand reinvestment and elevated our strategic planning process to incorporate input from key stakeholders, including our franchisees, fostering greater buy-in and alignment to our long-range plan,” Nykolaychuk said. “As such, with their combined experience and expertise, we are confident that as Tracy, Amy and Nick take on their new or expanding roles, they will ignite our bold new direction, benefiting our associates, franchisees, vendor partners and customers.”

Applying Skills and Foster Growth

Christman continues to apply her strategic planning and financial management skills as COO to help franchisees grow and to expand the brand’s presence. “When it comes to growth, I believe it is essential for franchisors to invest in strategic planning, continually strengthening the brand and offering unwavering support and training to franchisees. A commitment to improving operational efficiency, scalability and consistency across all franchise locations will keep us on the right track. At the same time, a focus on strategic marketing, financial discipline and managing risk is necessary to maintain long-term profitability and success.”

During her downtime, Christman enjoys spending time with her husband of 35 years and their two kids and going on nature walks with her four dogs.
