Eco-Friendly Techniques and Festive Lighting Solutions Drive Year-Round Revenue

A pair of entrepreneurs with their own successful home improvement brands have teamed to create Bright Brothers, a franchise that provides exterior home washing, gutter cleaning and protection, and holiday lighting. As Bright Brothers founders, Larry Janesky and Patrick Clark combine their decades of experience in sales, training and operations to create the new concept.

Bright Brothers uses a proprietary line of products combined with low-pressure water to efficiently “soft wash” roofs, walls, gutters and other exterior house surfaces, killing algae and mold, and removing grime and dirt. The soft-wash technique is safer than pressure cleaning, which can damage fragile surfaces and drive dirt and algae deeper into tiny crevices rather than removing and destroying it, says Austin Passini, Bright Brothers chief operating officer.

Combining Talents

Prior to meeting, Janesky and Clark were successful in their own businesses — Janesky as founder of Contractor Nation Network and Clark as founder of Precision ProWash. Janesky had developed patented home-improvement products and a basement waterproofing system, and then connected with entrepreneurs interested in selling his innovations. These efforts morphed into Janesky’s Contractor Nation Network, founded in 1990 to equip contractors with resources and support to grow their own businesses.

Meantime, Clark worked parttime in the exterior washing industry. This side hustle became a career when the company went out of business. Clark had a 3-week-old baby and needed the income, so in 2008, he founded his own company, Precision ProWash. He began to expand in 2013, with several independently owned and operated locations across the country. Clark’s success earned him recognition in the industry, as well as invitations to speak and train other entrepreneurs.

“Larry Janesky and Pat Clarkare cut from the same cloth. They both love business, but more importantly, they both love helping people,” Passini says. “After being introduced by a mutual friend who knew their passions and values were aligned, Larry immediately realized Pat’s expertise in sales and training, and Pat recognized how much could be achieved when bolstered by Larry’s experience and Contractor resources.”

The partners used Clark’s business model as the foundation and began to optimize each function of the business for efficiency, stability and potential growth, Passini says. Bright Brothers and Contractor Nation also teamed with BrandONE franchise development experts to lead the expansion of the franchise. The business model is simple and easily scalable, Passini says, requiring only a few key people, pieces of equipment and products to get started. “This model and the multiple services provided create excellent sources of recurring revenue and potential for growth,” he says.

The Market

The market for Bright Brothers’ services includes residential and commercial properties. “Whether it’s a sprawling estate or a cozy suburban home, a business office building or a public institution, all outdoor surfaces need to be cleaned and maintained,” Passini says. “And holiday lights are just as universal, with customers including homeowners commercial property owners, and even towns!”

Passini says ideal franchisees may be operations-oriented, bringing in effective sales personnel to complement their operational strengths, or sales-focused, hiring skilled team members to run the daily business operations. He describes a set of attributes that successful franchisees have in common. “For example, a franchise owner must have the ability to solve problems creatively and effectively manage a team. These things are non-negotiable,” he says. “A great owner will also be connected within the community, have a hunger for success and be driven to uphold the stellar reputation of Bright Brothers.”
