McPherson will Help Grow Brands Nationally
BrandONE, a leading franchise development consultancy, named Heather McPherson vice president of franchise development. With this role, McPherson will help grow brands nationally. BrandONE’s franchise partners include Verlo Mattress, K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel, Seniors Help Seniors, and Gutter Shutter.
McPherson was working for beauty franchisor Deka Lash when her friend and BrandONE partner, Peter Barkman, approached her about becoming part of the BrandONE team. “The timing couldn’t have been better. I joined Deka Lash as brand development director to get back to my roots – franchise development,” McPherson said.
Despite a successful run with Deka Lash, McPherson still felt something was missing and explored options for months before accepting the offer with BrandONE. She worked closely with the founders of BrandONE for years and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to join the team.
McPherson’s previous experience prepared her for this new role. “Making mistakes and learning and growing in all avenues have been most helpful. Over the years, I have always believed that each relationship is built on a foundation of honesty, integrity, fearless confidence, positive optimism, and balance. I follow this philosophy in business and life and am thrilled to bring my diverse skill set and intense passion to the BrandONE team.”
BrandONE’s thoughtful approach to working with franchise partners sets it apart from the competition, McPherson says. “BrandONE has a vision to enhance the lives of franchisors and franchise owners with businesses that make the world a better place.”
McPherson’s Franchising Background
McPherson’s franchise career extends more than 20 years and has allowed her to take on various positions, including business advisor, financial consultant, and franchise developer. Her relationship-building skills and attention to detail have helped her succeed in the industry.
When one of the companies she worked for was bought out by Capistar Holdings, an umbrella company of FranChoice, she met FranChoice CEO and founder, Jeff Elgin, and Geoff Seiber. They quickly became her mentors. McPherson joined Seiber to help build and grow FranFund as senior financial consultant.
For over a decade, McPherson helped companies get their candidates funded. To stay ahead of the competition, she attended networking events and kept up to date on new brands and the latest franchise development news.
Navigating the Industry
McPherson urges franchisors to provide a clear and simple educational process for franchisees. “Make it clear that this is NOT a sales process, but an evaluation and educational process to see if the brand is the best fit.”
Entrepreneurs looking to make it in the industry should be teachable, McPherson says. “Teachable people are interested in study, application, growth and are always open to new ideas.”
