Malmuth Believes in the Durability of the Specialty Battery Retail Market

Batteries Plus, a leader in specialty battery retail, has announced the promotion of Joe Malmuth to chief development officer (CDO). He previously served as the battery retail franchise’s chief franchising officer and now will oversee the brand’s plans for franchise growth and development to expand its footprint and strengthen its presence in the market.

“I am incredibly honored to take on the role of CDO at Batteries Plus as we navigate this exciting path of expansion,” Malmuth said. “This promotion is not only a testament to my evolving career with Batteries Plus, but also a reflection of our great leadership team and the remarkable franchise community we’ve built together. I look forward to continuing to grow the Batteries Plus footprint as we strive to strengthen our presence in the specialty battery retail market and to continuing Batteries Plus’ mission to grow responsibly.”

Since joining Batteries Plus in 2020, Malmuth has served in a variety of roles including managing director of franchise development and vice president of franchise development and franchise operations. During his tenure, the battery retail franchise has made significant strides in support of franchisees including ramping up its franchise communication and deploying a system that supports the entire life cycle of every franchise location. Additionally under Malmuth’s guidance, the battery repair and restoration franchise has built a multi-unit investors platform and launched the market stewardship program that awards franchisees the rights to an entire market.

“This promotion is a natural move for Joe as he’s already demonstrated impressive development of the Batteries Plus franchise, Chief Business Officer Jon Sica said. “From his commitment to fostering positive relationships with our franchisees to his passion for the industry and innovative approach to business development, we’re confident Joe will continue to play a pivotal role in driving Batteries Plus’ success.”

Part of the battery repair franchise’s success will be the future of the specialty battery retail market, which is driven by demands for Lithium-ion Batteries, Nickel-cadmium Batteries, and more. “As the proliferation of battery power needs continues to expand, not only for consumers, but for businesses, governments and schools, these buyers need a trusted place to go for these power needs.”

Keys to Growth

Malmuth says franchisors’ No. 1 priority should be to focus on franchise owners and their profitability by providing as much support and training as possible. He also believes that franchisors should practice responsible franchising to achieve long-term success and longevity.
