The restaurant industry is projected to reach $1.55 trillion in sales in 2026, but sales growth is expected to remain modest at 1.3%, according to the National Restaurant Association. For restaurant franchises, smart growth is not just about opening more locations. It is about building the systems, tools and insights needed to support franchisees, serve guests more effectively and scale with consistency.
The Big Biscuit breakfast-and-lunch franchise is using technology and consumer intelligence to make growth more intentional as it marks its 31st opening. From operations and guest feedback to site selection and delivery, each investment is designed to help franchisees perform better as the brand expands.
“As we continue expanding into new markets, our focus remains on building a stronger foundation for franchisees and guests,” says The Big Biscuit CEO, Chad Offerdahl. “Whether it’s leveraging technology to improve operations, utilizing consumer insights to better understand our guests, or making data-driven development decisions, every investment we make is designed to support sustainable growth while preserving the hospitality and quality that define The Big Biscuit experience.”
Technology-Enhancing Restaurant Operations
According to the National Restaurant Association, nearly 8 in 10 short-staffed restaurant operators say understaffing limits their ability to grow and succeed. The Big Biscuit is combatting labor challenges by implementing tools and technology that create a better employee experience while simplifying back-of-house operations. One of the brand’s latest operational initiatives is a partnership with TipHaus, a digital tip management platform designed to streamline tip distribution and improve transparency for team members.
“Implementing TipHaus into our system allows our team members to deliver memorable guest experiences,” says Vice President of Finance at The Big Biscuit, Alex Clark. “Since March, we have seen faster and more transparent access to tips, which has removed operational headaches for our operators managing cash across 31 locations.”
Leveraging Consumer Insights to Better Serve Guests
In addition to operational technology, The Big Biscuit continues investing in tools that help operators better understand guest preferences and identify opportunities to improve the customer experience.
Through its partnership with Momos, an AI-powered guest experience platform built for multi-location restaurants and hospitality brands, the brand gains real-time visibility into guest reviews, customer sentiment and feedback trends across locations. By aggregating and analyzing guest feedback, operators can quickly identify areas of success, respond to concerns and make informed decisions that enhance the overall dining experience.
The technology provides restaurant-level visibility while helping leadership monitor broader consumer trends across the system. This allows The Big Biscuit to remain responsive while reinforcing its hospitality-first culture.
Data-Driven Growth Through Smarter Site Selection
Data also plays an important role in development strategy. The breakfast-and-lunch franchise uses Placer.ai, a location intelligence and foot traffic analytics platform, to analyze traffic patterns, trade areas, consumer behavior and market opportunities when evaluating future restaurant locations. These insights help leadership and franchisees make informed decisions about where to grow while ensuring new restaurants are positioned for long-term success. By combining market intelligence with operational expertise, The Big Biscuit can identify opportunities in communities that align with the brand’s family-oriented positioning and strong daytime dining model.
Third-Party Delivery Continues Expanding Reach
Alongside operational and development technology, third-party delivery remains an increasingly important part of The Big Biscuit’s growth strategy.
Through its partnership with DoorDash, an online ordering and delivery platform that helps restaurants reach customers through pickup and delivery, the breakfast-and-lunch franchise has expanded its reach beyond the dining room while maintaining the quality and hospitality guests expect. Growth in off-premises dining reflects increasing consumer demand for convenient access to The Big Biscuit’s offerings.
Strong consumer adoption and expanding digital visibility have helped strengthen the brand’s performance while creating new opportunities to engage guests across multiple channels. The Big Biscuit remains focused on delivering speed, consistency, and accuracy with every order.
Expansion Momentum Builds Across Key Markets
The opening of The Big Biscuit’s 31st location represents another milestone in the brand’s continued expansion.
This summer, franchisees Terry and Aimee Sims are preparing to open their second location in Rogers, Ark., further building the brand’s presence in Northwest Ark. Additionally, the breakfast-and-lunch franchise is expanding its corporate footprint with the June opening of a second restaurant in the Wichita metro area, a market that continues to serve as a strategic foundation for regional development. Two additional Wichita-area locations are planned for later this year.
Building the Foundation for Smart Franchise Growth
The Big Biscuit remains focused on smart franchise growth, investing in the people, technology and systems that support franchisees and enhance the guest experience. From operational innovations and consumer intelligence tools to strategic site selection and expanding delivery capabilities, each initiative is designed to strengthen the brand’s foundation while maintaining the hospitality-first culture that has defined The Big Biscuit for more than 25 years.
With 31 locations open and additional restaurants on the horizon, The Big Biscuit is building for the future through disciplined growth, data-driven decision-making and a continued commitment to serving guests and franchisees alike.
