America is facing a serious mental health crisis. According to the Centers for Disease Control, nearly one in four adults — about 60 million people — are dealing with a diagnosable mental health condition every year. And here’s the even tougher part: more than half of them aren’t getting the help they need.

Since the pandemic, rates of anxiety and depression have skyrocketed, especially among teens and young adults, according to the World Health Organization. Suicide is now one of the leading causes of death in the U.S., and yet access to effective treatment is still a major challenge.

Zion Healing Centers is a new, innovative franchise offering a breakthrough solution. This one-of-a-kind franchise combines brain-based therapies, cutting edge technology and spiritual education to heal both the mind, body and spirit. This unique mental health franchise is for entrepreneurs or health care professionals who want to make a real difference while building a powerful, meaningful business.

A Personal Journey

Robert Beatty, Zion Healing Centers founder, knows this struggle firsthand. In the 1990s, he was thriving in Hollywood, working on popular TV shows and securing funding for major entertainment projects. But behind the scenes, he was privately battling addiction and mental health challenges. “Drugs and alcohol addiction stripped me of all of that,” Beatty says. “I ended up homeless for a couple of years, living in cheap hotels and on the street in Salt Lake.”

After suffering complete liver failure, cardiac arrest and kidney damage in 2010, Beatty had what he calls a spiritual awakening. He survived and decided to change his life for good. He earned a master’s degree in psychology and addiction at Purdue and opened his first treatment center in Park City, Utah.

While he helped many people, Beatty soon grew frustrated with the traditional rehab model. “Inpatient treatment centers have a failure rate of 100% when it comes to first-time patient outcomes,” he says. “There had to be a better way.”

The solution was Zion Healing Centers, an mental health franchise born with a mission to provide a better, smarter and more compassionate way to treat mental health issues.

A Unique Mental Health Franchise

Zion Healing Centers takes a dramatically different approach to mental health — one that goes beyond traditional rehab methods. Instead of relying solely on group therapy or medication, this innovative mental health franchise focuses on healing both the brain and the spirit through advanced technology and spiritual education.

At the heart of Zion’s method are brain-based tools like Neurofeedback and brain mapping. These techniques identify damaged or underperforming areas of the brain and retrain them using customized treatment plans. “It’s physical therapy for the brain,” explains founder Robert Beatty. “Patients see measurable improvement through brain scans, and their symptoms often drop dramatically.”

Another key component is Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a powerful therapy that sends MRI-strength magnetic pulses into targeted areas of the brain responsible for mood regulation. Together, these tools help reduce depression, anxiety and addictive behavior. On top of the clinical treatments, the mental health franchise offers a spiritual education program called 15 Promises to Freedom, which gives patients lifetime access to online learning to support their recovery journeys.

“When we introduced neurofeedback and brain mapping, our relapse rates dropped by 70–80% almost overnight,” Beatty says. “With TMS, about 85% of patients have a positive response — it’s huge.”

The Zion Healing Centers Franchise Model

The Zion Healing Centers mental health franchise is designed to be efficient, impactful and fully supported. Each center operates from a small, professional office space — typically between 1,500 and 2,000 square feet — making it a scalable and cost-effective model.

Franchisees receive comprehensive support from the moment they come on board. The franchisor guides new owners through every phase of launching and growing their business, including state licensing, insurance credentialing, billing systems, marketing strategies and clinical operations. The goal is to streamline setup while ensuring a high standard of care and service.

Each clinic runs with a lean team. Most locations require just a technician, a part-time medical doctor to oversee TMS treatments, and a licensed therapist to meet with patients weekly. This efficient staffing structure helps reduce overhead while maximizing impact.

Revenue comes from a mix of private pay and insurance reimbursement. Approximately 60% of patients pay out of pocket, while 40–50% of income is typically covered by insurance. To keep the pipeline strong, franchisees are trained to build local referral networks by connecting with doctors, therapists, probation offices, and community organizations.

Since launching the new, innovative mental health franchise in 2021, Zion Healing Centers has awarded about 33 franchise units, most through area development agreements that will eventually lead to 60 or 70 locations nationwide. Clinics are open or coming soon in Utah, California, Texas, Oklahoma and Michigan.

To qualify for a Zion Healing Centers franchise, candidates need an entrepreneurial background, a genuine passion for helping others, and the financial ability to support the business through its setup phase, which typically takes about 90 days for licensing and credentialing.

“This isn’t like opening a sandwich shop,” Beatty says. “There’s a process. But if you have the heart for it, it’s incredibly rewarding.”
