Lewis Brings Two Decades of Expertise to the Wedding Media Franchise

Wed Society, a home-based wedding media franchise, has added David Lewis to its executive team as chief growth officer. With this role, Lewis will oversee the brand’s national expansion and drive marketing share in existing locations. He brings two decades of experience to the position.

Lewis discovered Wed Society while working as a consultant and immediately fell in love with its story and the vision and passion of co-founders Ashley Bowen Murphy and Kami Huddleston. “Wed Society is special and has established itself as the leading wedding media brand by connecting local wedding vendors with engaged couples. It now boasts more than 1.5 million online views and an engaged social media following exceeding 300,000. I’m proud to join this talented team as we accelerate our national expansion,” Lewis said in a statement.

Both co-founders are confident in Lewis’ ability to further Wed Society’s growth. “David brings a world-class talent level to our franchise network and corporate support staff. He has unique insights as an accomplished franchisee, franchisor, and board member of national franchise brands,” said Bowen Murphy.

“David Lewis is a high-impact leader who expands our corporate team to nearly 40 talented media and franchise professionals as we quicken our national expansion. This is a big move for our fast-growing brand and demonstrates our investment in Wed Society continuing to disrupt the $70 billion wedding industry,” Huddleston said.

Customers and Content

Since the methods consumers use to access Wed Society’s content is constantly evolving, Lewis will innovate and introduce proprietary technology to keep up with trends. “Too often franchise systems — especially those who operate in legacy industries — fail to innovate quickly enough to adapt.” But Lewis has helped brands avoid this common mistake throughout his career.

Lewis’ Franchising Journey

Prior to joining Wed Society, Lewis served as chief operating officer of Stability Cannabis, a consumer-packaged goods business which he sold within three years. His career in franchising began with the Express Employment Professionals staffing franchise. During his time there, Lewis operated six units in Oklahoma and Texas before making the jump to vice president of franchising. He and his wife also purchased a separate lawn care franchise, and he served on the board of directors for a franchised women’s fitness concept. As a member of the franchising community, he enjoys supporting entrepreneurs as they fulfill their dreams of business ownership.

When offering advice to budding entrepreneurs, Lewis shares this quote from Gen. George Patton, “A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week.” Drawing from his personal experience, he cautions against the pursuit of the “perfect” franchise. Instead, he suggests finding a business that aligns with your interests and talents is the most important consideration when investing in a franchise.
