Brand Offers Moving, Yard Work, Junk Removal and Other Helpful Home Services
Surv founder Pat Brown insists on special qualities in franchisees investing in the brand, which handles a variety of to-do-list tasks for homeowners. “We look for candidates who are ready to burn the dock, not just dip a toe — the kind of people who go all in with heart, grit and a deep drive to build something meaningful. We love candidates with a big heart for their communities, people who want to make their neighborhood more connected and help folks live fuller lives right where they are — at home. Folks who are sold out for “Surving” others and aren’t afraid to lead with purpose.”
Brown explains that franchisees “don’t have to do everything, but they do have to bring full-time focus and rocket-level energy to launch. They’re not dabbling; they’re building. The early push is what gets the flywheel turning, and from there, it’s about assembling the right team to scale toward the vision they’ve got in mind.” He says it’s helpful if potential franchisees have experience and like home improvement, and “it’s a huge plus if they’ve got a special passion for helping aging homeowners tackle projects with care and dignity.”
Seniors who want to age in place comprise a large portion of the franchise’s client base. But Surv handles home to-do lists for anyone in need, possibly busy families or career-focused young adults who are time-pressed or not handy. Services range from helping people move and handling landscape maintenance to removing junk and painting.
In return for his owners’ commitment to quality and service, Brown says the franchisor has gone all in, too. “Helping our franchisees win is the win. It’s about showing up with capital, franchise IQ, real infrastructure, time and listening. We’re investing in ways that’ll take years to see a return to the franchisor, which is exactly the point — long-term impact over short-term gain. We recently teamed up with the Cornerstone Group, who is now the majority equity partner in Surv, and wow, I’ve never seen a team lay more thoughtful groundwork to make sure franchisees are set up to succeed. They’re not only operational pros who’ve helped build giants like Home Depot, ServiceMaster, Re-Bath, Lumber Liquidators and FirstLight Home Care, but they’re also aligned with the Surv values. I’m grateful to be building alongside people like this.”
Comprehensive Support
The franchisor supplies an array of support so that everyone grows together, Brown says. This includes regular coaching check-ins, department meet-ups and strong inter-franchisee communication. If a problem occurs, “we’ve got targeted training and resources ready to help them power through.” He adds that it’s the franchisees “who build the real culture under our guiding principles. We help them set goals and follow through. We help them stay connected to their ‘why’ — the goals that matter most to them — and they naturally become the best ambassadors for Surv. As the system grows, those thriving owners are the ones who can jump on validation calls and help future franchisees see the road ahead and feel confident walking it. They’re the heroes. We’re just the guides.”
So what does it take to be a hero franchisee? “Taylor Blom in Michigan is one. He’s all in. He has poured everything he’s got into Surv, building a rock-star team, making an impact in his community, and now he’s seeing the fruit of all that hard work. I’m pumped to watch his growth in the years ahead, and I’m grateful to have someone like him in the Surv family.”
Surv has partnered with franchise development specialist BrandONE to accelerate nationwide growth by bringing in “mission-minded pros who want to see real local impact,” Brown says. “These are franchisees who light up when they get to invest in their teams, who build strong referral relationships, and serve homeowners with care and excellence.”
