Great support goes hand-in-glove with great franchises. The empowerment process of successful brands begins at signing and stays steady every day of the partnership between the franchise and its owners.
That’s precisely the M.O. at Oliver’s Nannies Franchising, says Melanie Hadley Franklin, director of operations. “I view our franchisees as partners. I strive to make the relationship collaborative and supportive. Franchisees know they can reach out, ask questions and share feedback. Collaboratively, we set clear expectations and goals and openly communicate on how things are going.”
Filling a Need, Not a Want
Leveraging their superior franchisee training and support, Oliver’s Nannies franchisees match nannies to families, and place nannies who provide academic, physical and social enrichment. The franchise fills a glaring need in the United States: There is a shortfall of almost 4.2 million childcare slots, according to the Bipartisan Policy Center, citing the updated Child Care Gaps Assessment in September 2025.
To do its part in easing families’ childcare challenges, Oliver’s Nannies begins franchisee training and support at signing, and it never ends, Franklin says. “We walk alongside franchisees at every stage, not just at the beginning. From day one, I’m focused on building relationships with our franchisees to ensure we understand their short-term and long-term goals.”
Immediately after signing, she schedules a call with each new franchisee to discuss the person’s goals and timeline and go through the onboarding checklist. “I’m there to help each franchisee navigate a smooth process in seeking a site, completing online training, reviewing our operations manual and preparing them for our weeklong new-owner training held in person at our New Jersey headquarters. Within the classroom environment, training includes hands-on and role-playing for all types of learners.”
That’s followed by two phone calls per week until the grand opening, when Franklin goes on-site to walk through daily office operations as well as assist with local marketing.
Ongoing Franchisee Training and Support
After launch, she says support continues with weekly calls and 1:1 guidance (she talks to franchisees by phone every day) and coaching for the franchisee and their office staff. “Operational support, marketing guidance and training refreshers are part of all of our discussions to ensure office staff, franchisees, nannies and clients are cared for and system standards are followed.” In addition, a new mentorship program engages franchisees via real-life scenarios.
Franchisees are not just allowed – but encouraged – to call as a need arises. When that happens, Franklin serves as a sounding board, analytical adviser and problem-solver. “Whether it’s answering questions, troubleshooting issues or offering encouragement, our focus is on being present and accessible and not just reactive. I proactively reach out to touch base as we analyze data and trends. I’m updating or creating resource tools and training to ensure all aspects of the business are fully supported.
“Regular communication also comes in the form of our monthly town hall meetings where we share and listen to our franchisees. Through consistent communication with franchisees and clients, our executive team discusses next steps, goals and brand standards and plans for the franchisees’ needs. I strongly believe that franchisees should have opportunities to ask questions and share feedback.”
As the Oliver’s Nannies franchise has grown, Franklin says the company has helped build connections among franchisees – many of whom are parents – and has refined communication channels via group calls, mentorship opportunities and enhanced training resources. “We just completed our first virtual annual conference, which enabled franchisees to connect and support each other. We look forward to our in-person conference later this year.”
How the Oliver’s Nannies Franchise Stands Out
The in-home childcare franchise values its reputation as well as its owners and staff. “Oliver’s Nannies stands apart because of our vetting, recruiting and management process with our caregivers,” Franklin says. “All of our franchises build strong relationships with their client families to ensure quality and individualized care occurs for each household. We prioritize high standards in caregiver recruitment and placement. Quality, professionalism and relationship-building are foundational to our families, caregivers and franchise owners. I cheer on our franchisees when they share messages and emails praising the services of their nannies.”
She adds that the Oliver’s Nannies franchise won’t settle for second-best in any way. “Our mission is to lead the childcare industry with innovative and accessible staffing solutions. Our values influence how we communicate, how we support franchisees, how we serve families and how we hold ourselves accountable. I believe in honest and ethical business practices that help steer our strategies and decision-making when helping each franchisee.
“I wish the Oliver’s Nannies franchise had been around 25 years ago when I had young ones and scrambled to find quality trusted care that was adaptable to my needs. I feel very lucky to be a part of an organization that understands what families need and works with them to make it happen.”
