Founder Jeff Tomaszewski and Franchise FastLane’s CarPool Lead the Charge with a Science-Backed Approach
MaxStrength Fitness founder Jeff Tomaszewski has embraced advancements by leading experts in exercise science to hone the brand’s distinctive therapeutic, efficiency-driven approach during the 17 years since its inception. When the time came to franchise, Tomaszewski again turned to the experts — this time, with Franchise FastLane’s CarPool — to provide franchise development assistance.
“Being an emerging franchise, we were searching for guidance on how to best launch and utilize best practices by established brands. Through my research I found Franchise FastLane’s Carpool,” Tomaszewski says. “Their expertise and guidance setting up our discovery process in year one was worth the investment alone! Not to mention awarding our first franchisee with them by our side every step of the way gave us the confidence that nothing was being missed because, sometimes as a new franchise, you just don’t know what you don’t know. But the ongoing coaching with [CarPool Vice President] Jesse Hudson and the monthly MasterMlnd sessions have taken the whole experience one step further. Getting the chance to meet and have discussions with other emerging brands in the CarPool program really helps us feel like we’re not in this alone.”
Franchise Development Assistance ‘For the Many’
Franchise FastLane, the No. 1 proven franchise accelerator in North America, launched its CarPool product in 2023 to provide franchise development coaching and administrative services for emerging and established brands seeking to perfect their processes and to equip them to control their growth by providing the blueprint and tools for success. While Franchise FastLane partners with a select number of highly qualified brands for their FastLane product, to propel their responsible, accelerated growth, CarPool works with “the many, not just the chosen few,” that can benefit from franchise development assistance including training and coaching. With CarPool coaching, Franchisors can learn how to do franchise development the right way, right away while still having access to best in class operational support.
Franchisors that participate in CarPool keep sales development in-house while receiving coaching and support that includes organic lead qualification, territory checks, call scheduling, validation and leadership call reminders. In addition, brands receive guidance on consultant network contracts, assistance with compliance issues and up-to-date territory mapping.
“The knowledge gained by participating in CarPool puts brands in a position to be best in class, so that when leads come, they can easily convert into deals. Put simply, CarPool delivers all the Franchise FastLane value to franchisors while allowing them to keep a developer in-house,” Hudson says.
A Science-Backed Fitness Concept
Tomaszewski says the impact of Franchise FastLane’s development assistance goes beyond opening new locations. “Our expansion also is aimed at creating a larger community of empowered individuals who can benefit from a fitness regimen that respects their body’s needs and time,” he says.
MaxStrength Fitness provides time-efficient and productive high-intensity strength training, nutritional consultation and post-rehabilitation experiences in a boutique studio-style gym setting. The brand offers 20-minute resistance training sessions twice a week that are tailored for busy executives aged 50 and older. “Our franchise stands out due to its unique, science-backed training protocol that’s not just about fitness but is therapeutic in nature. Unlike conventional gyms, where standard training might exacerbate orthopedic issues, our methodology is designed to aid in the rehabilitation of these issues, offering a service that goes beyond fitness. We pride ourselves on fixing people, not breaking them,” Tomaszewski says.
MaxStrength Fitness has adapted and refined its value proposition to deliver a higher standard of personalized care and effectiveness in the fitness world, differentiating the brand from a traditional, one-size-fits-all gym experience, which was a selling point for franchisee Kassia Garfield.
“The personalized, slow intensity training at MaxStrength provides a unique workout environment that’s different than a normal gym. It’s definitely an opportunity for the client who is looking for something less conventional,” says Garfield, who operates her MaxStrength studio in Niceville, Fla., and ultimately plans to open one or two more locations in the Florida Panhandle.
“The MaxStrength Fitness corporate team has been nothing but beyond helpful, supportive and attentive,” says Garfield, a U.S. Air Force veteran and physical health professional for more than a decade. “They’ve been there for me every step of the way and really are available any time of day. I’m signing clients up every week, and we’re growing at a pretty steady rate.”
Why a Fitness Franchise?
Garfield knew fitness would be a good career path after transitioning from the military. “My involvement in health care already had me working to keep the 45-plus population out of the doctor’s office and into healthier lifestyles, and I’ve always wanted to be my own boss,” she says. “And I think the fitness industry is booming.”
The future is indeed bright, with the global health and fitness club market size projected to increase from $112.17 billion in 2023 to $202.78 billion by 2030, representing a combined annual growth rate of 8.83%, according to Fortune Business Insights.
MaxStrength Fitness is capitalizing on this industry growth, particularly with its target market of professionals aged 50 and older, a demographic that’s set to transform the fitness industry, according to the International Council on Active Aging.
With FastLane’s franchise development assistance, Tomaszewski says, “We plan to broaden our brand impact by inviting more franchisees to join our mission of transforming lives through strength in the coming year. That means expanding our reach geographically to bring our unique fitness solution to new markets and demographics.”
He says the brand’s specific growth strategies include targeted marketing campaigns, strategic partnerships and continuous enhancement of training protocols “to ensure we remain at the cutting edge of fitness and therapeutic exercise.”
