Jennifer Delgado’s (above) unlikely journey as Movita customer-turned-franchisee began about two years ago when she sought relief from persistent digestive problems. Today, as the Latina entrepreneur and her husband work toward the early 2026 launch of their Movita location in Anaheim, Calif., she recalls how it all began.

“All I could consume without having flare-ups were smoothies. My stomach issues flipped my world upside down. It was a wake-up call to analyze my diet. I did constant research on foods that would make me feel better. That ignited my passion for nutrition and wellness,” she says. “In between doctors’ visits, endoscopies and symptoms, I started to talk about my issues online,” ultimately building a community of more than 50,000 followers. “I’ve since created a gut-health protocol that works for me and enabled me to finish the Los Angeles Marathon twice.”

Food as Fuel

Delgado’s intense interest in healthy eating also pointed her toward a new professional pursuit — becoming a certified holistic nutritionist. While studying to earn certification, she applied for a job at her local Movita Juice Bar where she had been a customer. “I remembered how upbeat and positive the environment felt every time I would visit the store, and when I got the chance to work there, I loved everything about it. From prepping the fresh fruits and veggies to interacting with the customers, it felt like a place where people cared about their health and overall well-being,” she says.

MOVITA FRANHCISE FOOD OPTIONS

“Working for Movita Juice Bar is amazing because you’re working with clean, healthy options that can make a positive impact on people’s lives. As a teen, I loved endurance sports like swimming and running. It was then that I learned food was fuel. The more fruit, veggies and healthy fats I ate, the better my sport performance was. Fruits and vegetables have an endless amount of benefits, and sharing that with our customers is very rewarding. When customers ask me about the benefits of our juice and smoothies, I love to throw out fun health facts when I get the chance.”

Customer-Turned-Franchisee

Delgado quickly moved up in the juice bar franchise. “After a couple of months working as a barista, I was promoted to shift captain. I learned a lot about how the company operates and wanted to be more involved. I reached out to the marketing team with ideas on how educational content could benefit the brand. I created a sample video on the benefits of our products and how we can reach a large audience while showcasing the nutritional benefits of our products. From that point on, my responsibilities as a certified holistic nutritionist have been to create content around Movita’s products, highlighting the benefits and importance of consuming whole foods.”

A large swath of U.S. consumers is receptive to her message. Statista Consumer Insights has found that about 50% of all Americans say they actively try to eat healthy. Statista, which accumulates data about consumer behavior, found that 58% of baby boomers and 44% of Gen Z, a strong customer demographic for Movita, focus on eating a healthy diet.

Yearning for Business Ownership

Delgado happily supported the brand’s health-centric mission as an employee, but she always wanted to operate her own business. “Movita felt like the perfect way to combine my passion for health and wellness with my desire to start my own business. I was born in Mexico, and my family has always been very entrepreneurial, especially in produce distribution. My grandpa even owned his own small juice bar at some point, which feels very full-circle for me now as a Latina entrepreneur.”

Movita franchisee Jen Delgado and her husband, Matthew Quirarte

Delgado and her husband, Matthew Quirarte (above), didn’t jump in blindly. “I did research into other companies to see what the possibilities were. After reading through startup costs, expected overhead, operating costs and overall profitability, I realized that a Movita Juice Bar franchise offered an incredible opportunity where I could combine my experience and love for working there. I felt very confident in running our store based on my prior experience there, and knowing that we have a team dedicated to seeing us succeed.”

The couple found a great mentor in the manager of the Movita Juice Bar where they currently work. “When we officially began the process of owning a franchise, we shared it with our manager, Walter Ramirez. He was so excited for us that he decided to take us under his wing and teach us as much as he could about running a successful store. His support really reinforced our decision that we were helping build a franchise whose foundation is built on leaders who truly care about their store, their customers and the people they work with.”

What’s Up Now and Ahead

As Delgado and Quirarte count down to opening the first of what they hope will be multiple juice bar locations, they still work at Movita part-time. Quirarte also continues work in his full-time job. “He comes from a sales and operations background and I come from a health/wellness background,” Delgado says, “so our dynamic working together in this business is amazing. As a customer-turned-franchisee, I hope to continue building strong relationships with our customers and make Movita Juice Bar a household name.”

The growing brand is heavily focused on its owners’ success, and it offers several competitive advantages, including scalability and extensive franchisee support, plus its wellness focus and simple operational model.
