Richard will Oversee the Franchisor’s Operations

College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving announced Marc Richard as its new senior vice president of operations. Richard will oversee the franchisor’s day-to-day operations. He was previously vice president of franchise operations for Smoothie King.

“I have a great respect and appreciation for franchisees and the dedication that is required to deliver an outstanding experience for customers, guests and clients on a daily basis. Seeing the rapid expansion that College HUNKS has had in the past few years and knowing the impact it has on both franchisees and the community is what drew me to the organization,” Richard said in a statement.

Richard is thrilled to roll up his sleeves every morning knowing that he’s part of a team that truly embodies its core values. He adds that the team values help “make the junk removal and moving process as stress-free as possible for our clients while delivering on our brand purpose of ‘Move the World!’”

College HUNKS’ leadership team can’t wait to have Richard on board. “Marc’s experience guiding franchise teams to success made him an ideal match for College HUNKS. He brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the organization, and his leadership will be a key part of the organization’s mission to ‘Move The World,’” said Roman Cowan, president of College HUNKS.

Richard credits College HUNKS’ innovation and training to its ability to stay ahead of the competition. “We provide manuals, videos, an online knowledge library, webinars and an internal social media platform where franchisees can communicate with one another, share ideas and solve issues. Creating this support system from the start increases our success rate.”

Richard also appreciates that the Tampa, Florida-based company gives back to the community. After Hurricane Ian devastated Florida, the franchisor jumped into action by giving meals to those in need. “Luckily, our headquarters were not impacted by Hurricane Ian. We are continuing efforts to assist those affected by Hurricane Ian through providing meals with U.S. Hunger,” Richard said. He has spent a lot of his career leading teams that support franchisees.

Richard’s Franchising Career

Richard’s first experience in franchising was at Domino’s as a business consultant and later as the director of franchise operations for its Midwest region. His favorite part of the franchise industry is assisting franchise owners “on their journey of entrepreneurship while developing future leaders along the way.” In Richard’s view, aspiring franchise owners should find a brand that aligns with their values and goals. He added that they should also “seek out other franchise owners and ask them about their experience first-hand.”

Throughout his career, Richard took the time to learn the business from the ground up. He explains that could “be making a perfect pizza in under 60 seconds or blending a perfect smoothie for a guest who is on a health and fitness journey.” He believes this understanding is crucial to making informed, strategic decisions that will benefit the brand and its franchisees. “I’m taking a similar approach in my new role at College HUNKS as I’m gearing up for some junk removal and moving jobs in the coming weeks. I’d also add that regardless of the product or service, we’re always in the people business. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed developing leaders to provide best-in-class support for franchisees; it’s something that I’ll continue to be passionate about at College HUNKS.”
