Commitment to Research and Innovation by Skin Experts by Brentwood Spa Enables Franchisees to Focus on Business, Not Fads

SUMMARY BOX FINAL
  • Consumers increasingly demand science-backed skin care products and treatments that focus on long-term skin health.
  • A commitment by Skin Experts by Brentwood Spa to ongoing research and innovation relieves franchisees of the burden of keeping up with skin care science in a quickly evolving industry.
  • Ongoing training ensures that franchisees and their teams remain knowledgeable about products, ingredients and treatments, and capable of explaining the benefits to clients.

Consumers are better educated about skin care today than ever before. Although fads proliferate, consumers increasingly demand treatments and products backed by skin care science that deliver real, long-lasting results. Experts note the shift: “Science is winning in skin care in 2026,” says Dr. Uchenna Okereke, a board-certified dermatologist in Boston, in an Allure article. “This year, science is guiding innovation – as opposed to finding a new ingredient and trying to make it work.”

Shaya Mulcahy, Skin Experts by Brentwood Spa co-founder and chief operating officer, couldn’t agree more. “We’re seeing strong demand for treatments that support long-term skin health – strengthening the barrier, supporting the microbiome and improving overall skin function rather than relying on overly aggressive approaches. Clients also want clarity. They want to understand what ingredients do, how treatments work and why certain protocols are recommended,” she says.

“We meet this moment by positioning every Skin Experts visit as part of a guided skin care journey. Clients come to us looking for help from a true expert for a specific skin concern, and our estheticians walk with them every step of the way – combining advanced technology, strategically formulated products and clear education so clients can make confident decisions about their skin. The result is professional skin care that is results-driven, approachable and designed to support healthy skin over time.”

Science-Backed Skin Care

Below, Mulcahy shares details involving Skin Experts’ commitment to ongoing research and innovation related to skin care – and why that matters for franchise owners.

Q: How does Skin Experts stay on top of skin care trends, consumer sentiment and science-backed innovations related to skin care?

QÚL Beauty from Skin Experts franchise

A: Skin Experts stays ahead of skin care trends by maintaining a constant dialogue between skin care science, technology and real-world client results. Our leadership team has decades of experience in the esthetics industry, and we work closely with our chemists and professional esthetic educators to stay informed about emerging ingredients, technologies and treatment protocols. But trends alone don’t drive our decisions – results do.

Because Skin Experts operates corporate spa locations, we see firsthand how treatments perform on real clients every day. That direct feedback loop allows us to adapt quickly and bring forward innovations that truly work, and not just what’s popular in the marketplace. In 2025, Skin Experts added three new high-tech facials with new advanced technologies, and eight new add-ons to elevate our clients’ treatments. In mid-2026, our proprietary skin care line, QÚL Beauty, is entering its next evolution with a rebrand – introducing clean, timeless cream packaging with academy green accents, and elevated formulations designed to deliver even more transformative results. Our new collection features more probiotics, peptides and natural botanicals that enhance skin health and radiance.

Q: How does the Skin Experts team evaluate new products and treatments in determining which ones to offer?

Skin Experts Hydro Jelly Mask

A: When evaluating new products or treatments, our process is intentionally selective. We begin by reviewing the scientific foundation, ingredient integrity and formulation quality. From there, we test treatments within our own spa environments to ensure they deliver consistent results while remaining accessible and practical for franchise locations to implement. Our products go through a rigorous testing process as well that takes between six to eight months to ensure efficacy and compatibility within our product line. Only after a treatment or product demonstrates strong results across these categories do we introduce it more broadly within the Skin Experts system.

Q: How are Skin Experts’ ongoing efforts to research and implement science-backed skin care beneficial for franchisees?

A: For prospective franchisees, this commitment to ongoing research and innovation is one of the most valuable aspects of joining the Skin Experts brand. The beauty and skin care industry evolves quickly, and independent operators often struggle to keep pace with changing technologies and consumer expectations. Skin Experts removes that burden by continually researching, testing and refining the treatments, equipment and product offerings that our franchisees bring to their clients.

Q: Please share how Skin Experts provides ongoing training for franchisees and their teams so they’re knowledgeable about the benefits and application of treatments, ingredients and products – and can explain these benefits to clients.

Skin Experts Aquasure Hydro Facial

A: Education is another cornerstone of the Skin Experts model. Our franchisees and their esthetic teams receive ongoing training through a combination of onboarding programs, treatment protocol education, ingredient knowledge sessions and regular updates as new treatments or products are introduced. We place a strong emphasis not only on performing treatments correctly, but also on ensuring that estheticians understand the skin care science behind what they are doing. This empowers them to communicate clearly with clients about ingredients, technology and long-term skin health. Clients should feel confident that they are receiving guidance from true Skin Experts.
