Ira Giri’s journey from India to the U.S. in 2001 marked a pivotal shift in her life. With her background in environmental sciences and a degree from the National Institute of Information and Technology, Giri initially envisioned a career merging academics with creativity. However, she paused her aspirations to prioritize family.

Her interest in education was sparked while volunteering at her son’s daycare, leading her to obtain a childcare certification and transition into teaching. Despite her passion, she found the school system’s strict guidelines limiting. This frustration motivated her to explore entrepreneurial options that aligned with her teaching philosophy. She eventually found her way to the Best in Class Education Center franchise opportunity. She launched her first location in Katy, Texas, in 2013, later moving to Richmond, Texas, and added a second location in 2015. Giri was impressed with the franchisor’s commitment to personalized, technology-driven education methods that ensure high academic performance.

Balancing roles as a mother and business owner, Giri has learned to navigate the challenges of managing staff and operating multiple locations. “Juggling responsibilities often led to staff issues as I tried to manage everything simultaneously. However, I quickly adapted and learned to approach tasks with greater care, proactively planning my days in advance to balance work and family commitments,” she says.

Giri loves the Best in Class business model’s flexibility, diverse revenue sources, recurring revenue model, solid support system and focus on fostering a cooperative work environment. She plans to expand her offerings to include language and public speaking courses and increase access with more operational days and adult-targeted classes. Her day-to-day involves interacting with students and their families to better understand their needs. She also engages in both in-person and virtual meetings and splits her time between both locations, providing support to staff and students.

Making a Difference

Living out her purpose has been life-changing for Giri, but giving back to the community has been the most rewarding aspect of business ownership for her. She gives back to her local community in a number of ways: by creating jobs for local educators and staff, offering scholarships and financial assistance to deserving students and organizing free SAT/ACT workshops.

Giri supports and sponsors educational initiatives and events, including book fairs, career days, and literacy programs. She encourages her staff and students to volunteer their time. She believes that helping out in the community is an important part of learning and she admires her franchisor for actively promoting these values and providing support. “Best in Class Education Center is committed to giving back to the community and making a positive impact through its various community service initiatives,” Giri says.
