Orthotic & Prosthetic Clinics of America Sets New Standards in Mobility and Care
The things we take for granted — like the ability to walk or open a door — can be taken away from us in seconds. An accident can result in a lost limb and make daily activities practically impossible. Orthotic & Prosthetic Clinics of America (OPCA) was created in 1923 to address these challenges by providing innovative solutions and comprehensive care.
Cutting-edge technology sets OPCA apart and enables clients to live better lives. Edward Kaufman, CEO of OPCA, feels proud of the transformative impact OPCA’s services have made. “Orthotic & Prosthetic Clinics of America was a dream of mine to give the orthotic and prosthetic industry back to the clinicians,” he says. “Whether owning their own clinics or earning equity through years of service, OPCA is set up to empower clinicians. We have a clear vision of what the industry should look like in the future and would love the right franchise partners to join us in this movement and live the lives they have always dreamed of through our franchise opportunity.”
New Partnership
Kaufman is dedicated to leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve outcomes for OPCA’s clients. Recently, OPCA partnered with Myomo, a leader in myoelectric upper extremity orthoses for individuals affected by strokes and accidents.

Myomo Inc., a trailblazer in wearable medical robotics, developed the MyoPro (above). This powered upper-limb orthosis aids in restoring arm function for patients with neurological disorders or upper-limb paralysis, including those impacted by strokes, brachial plexus injuries and spinal cord injuries. Unique in the U.S. market, the MyoPro uses a patient’s own electromyography (EMG) signals to support everyday activities, greatly increasing independence and reducing health care costs.
Following Medicare’s approval of the product in January, OPCA quickly began establishing itself as a center of excellence for this innovative device. “We are now one of only two national providers of this technology,” Kaufman explains.
Franchise Growth
OPCA opened its first franchise location in 2022 and is planning to expand into New Jersey, Georgia and Colorado soon. “Each new OPCA location allows us to significantly impact people’s lives.”
Meet New OPCA Franchisee
Zandra Neigoot, OPCA of West New York, New Jersey

What made you decide on OPCA, and how did you learn about it?: My franchise broker, Lisa Linkowsky, showed me several options. After a while, I experienced franchise fatigue! OPCA was the very last concept Lisa presented and I was immediately attracted to it. It seemed like an idea that was as unique as it would be rewarding and interesting to run.
I harbor a large need to be a “helper.” I want to help patients return to a comfortable life of new normalcy. I want to create a safe and productive working environment and by doing those things, I will also be helping OPCA succeed. A great broker like Lisa provided a necessary safety net and a much-needed hand to hold through the process.
How will this business help your community?: In North Jersey, there exists a great opportunity to help people with disabilities or functional impairments. OPCA treatments can help with mobility and quality of life. The alternatives to our services are abysmal, and I really believe this franchise will be a beacon of hope in that environment.
What did you do prior to investing in OPCA, and what led you to this franchise opportunity?: Prior to OPCA, I was a director of events, a hostess, a dog walker and a manager of a 30-person customer service team. More recently, I became a stay-at-home mom. This random list of odd jobs shows that you don’t need the experience with this franchise if you have the funding and determination. I arrived at the conclusion that OPCA was my new career, one where I could be the boss and help my community.
What have been the biggest challenges so far?: The biggest challenges so far have mainly been bureaucratic things like paperwork. Meeting numerous people gets dizzying: lawyers, real estate agents, insurance brokers, architects, payroll, billing, CPA, etc. It’s just the beginning. I’m sure I will have many obstacles and challenges, but the team at OPCA has my back and they’re my new family.
