The Emerging Beverage Franchise Prepares for Explosive Growth in 2024

Swig, an emerging beverage franchise, has named Bill Ayers as chief financial officer (CFO). This announcement comes as the brand prepares for expansive growth, which has included multiple new hires and promotions within the last year. These include CMO Dylan Roeder, COO Chase Wardrop, director of people and culture Angela Kavanaugh, and vice president of development Jordan Hill. Ayers brings more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance and investment banking to the CFO position.

“I’m truly excited about the opportunity to join such an amazing brand with one of the most talented teams I have ever seen. I’m particularly looking forward to collaborating with cross-functional teams to create a financial strategy that allows Swig to realize its full potential,” Ayers said. “The Swig brand has unlimited potential, but we must remain disciplined, steering the company toward sustainable growth and profitability. That discipline will allow us to remain agile and adaptable in today’s ever-evolving business landscape.”

Ayers initially was attracted to the emerging beverage franchise because of its commitment to customers and the quality of its products. The opportunity with Swig resulted from “a combination of serendipity and careful consideration,” he said, because he had been following the company’s progress and admired its accomplishments from afar; thus, joining the leadership team was a no-brainer.

Financial Acumen

Ayers’ financial prowess and interest in the field stems from his fascination with numbers and a desire to understand how businesses operate and create value. He also enjoys the problem-solving nature of finance and its critical role in driving strategic decision-making. Over the course of his career, Ayers has served as global vice president of finance for Black Diamond, a leader in climbing and ski equipment, and has held various leadership positions at 1-800 Contacts, HSBC and BMO Capital Markets.

Growth and Transparency

Based on his experience, Ayers encourages franchisors looking to grow to focus their financial initiatives on transparency and scalability. “Transparency is essential for building trust and credibility with franchisees. At the same time, franchisors need to prioritize scalability by implementing standardized financial processes and systems that can accommodate growth.” He explains that growth includes investing in technology and infrastructure to support franchise operations, as well as providing ongoing training and support to franchisees. Ayers said Swig understands best practices and will provide quality services accordingly.

He advises franchisees to strive to be continuously learning. Because change is inevitable, entrepreneurs need to be able to adapt quickly and turn challenges into opportunities, he said. Building a strong network of mentors and peers, and staying true to one’s values is also beneficial to success, he said.
