The Independent Market Research Firm Delivers Objective Benchmarking through Proprietary Survey Tools and Comparative Industry Analytics

Franchise Business Review, an independent market research firm that assesses franchisee satisfaction and brand performance, has named John Coughlin director of growth. Coughlin joined the firm following his tenure with Micro Tech Staffing Group, where he built a strong foundation in business development, relationship management and team leadership. He is now responsible for leading the FBR team that oversees new business development, ongoing client relations and account management. He also works closely with FBR’s marketing and technology teams to align sales initiatives and drive accelerated growth, while advising franchise leaders on identifying strategic opportunities to enhance performance.

“From the beginning, I noticed that this team at FBR is not only incredibly hard working but a complete team,” Coughlin said. “I have been given the opportunity to work with some unbelievable people and leaders here in a short time, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. I’m most excited to lead a great team of sales professionals. Together, we will learn from each other and not only grow in our roles but as people. My long-term goal is to grow this team in both revenue and size. The better we do, the more opportunities we have to add new members.”

This position represents Coughlin’s introduction to franchising. “President and COO Michelle Rowan and founder and CEO Eric Stites are so connected that it feels like I’m stepping into a family,” Coughlin said. “It doesn’t feel like something new. I love the opportunity we provide to franchisees — to learn, grow and create better opportunities for so many people. Our marketing team is exceptional, as is our customer success team. I think we bring an invaluable asset to any franchise looking to develop and grow.”

Rowan said Coughlin brings strong leadership experience and a practical, results-focused approach to growth. “His background in building high-performing teams and fostering long-term client relationships makes him an excellent fit for Franchise Business Review as we continue to support the health and growth of the franchise community.”

Education and Growth

Coughlin stresses the importance of education to franchisors looking to grow. “I sat down with many CEOs, and the common theme was franchisee satisfaction. There were many points surrounding that, but at the end of every conversation, the franchisor is only as successful as the franchisees.”

Coughlin bases his own success on the happiness of his family. He enjoys keeping up with his young daughter and rooting for Boston sports teams.
