Weiss Brings Leadership Experience with Franchisors and as Franchise Owner

Boardroom Salon, a men’s grooming and styling concept, has appointed Matt Weiss vice president of franchise operations. Weiss leads the brand’s development efforts and franchisee support operations.

“I’ve always been drawn to businesses that capture routine,” Weiss said. “Men’s grooming is regular, tech-proof and still highly fragmented, which makes it a compelling space. The other major draw was the vision, clarity and overall approach to the business. It was clear to me that Boardroom has real upside and is at an important point in its evolution, and I wanted to be part of it.”

He said he’s excited to be working with Boardroom’s leadership team and building upon its strong foundational systems. “This is a brand that uses sophisticated data to inform its decisions, creating a strong foundation for smart growth. The enthusiasm and energy I’ve encountered from the store level up is infectious, and I enjoy being in that kind of growth environment. Most of all, I’m excited to work side by side with our franchise partners to help drive success at scale.”

Perspective From Both Sides of Franchising

Weiss’ extensive franchising background includes serving in leadership roles at Level 5 Capital, Diesel Barbershop, Three Degrees and Heyday. He has also been a Massage Envy owner for 13 years — providing him with a valuable perspective from both the franchisor and franchisee sides of franchising.

“I found success as a franchisee in a membership-based wellness business, and I lived the model firsthand,” he said. “From being in my family’s store at grand opening and selling our first membership to helping onboard the first franchisee in another wellness franchise system, I have experienced the wild ride of business ownership and come to appreciate the lifestyle franchising can create when it works the way it should.

“As my career evolved, I pursued my MBA and built a range of experiences that allow me to work across multiple functions of a business, from operations and strategy to change management and franchisee support. I know a franchise system must be stronger than any one or two key players, and I’m excited to continue building those systems here.”

Jeff Helfgott, CEO of Boardroom Salon, said Weiss’ experience and contributions are making a positive impact in the new role. “Several of his ideas have already helped shape key initiatives as we continue building a solid foundation for growth. Matt brings practical insight, a strong work ethic and a collaborative mindset that will be invaluable in supporting growth across the system,” Helfgott said.
