The Niche Pet Franchise has Low Competition, High Margins, and a Needs-Based Model

Resting Rainbow Pet Memorials & Cremation has tapped Jamie Lavigne as vice president of franchise development. She loves crafting brand messaging and looks forward to creating a buzz and awareness about the unique pet franchise. She brings over 16 years of franchising experience to the position.

As the owner of four dogs and a rabbit, Lavigne loves the pet space. From the beginning, she was impressed with the pet cremation business due to its low competition and employee requirements, absentee ownership opportunities, high margins at 35.8% EBITDA, and needs-based model. In her view, Resting Rainbow checks multiple boxes for today’s franchise owners. “I don’t like how so many people use the word ‘disruptor’ in franchising, but this brand is just that. [Unfortunately], pet death is inevitable; talk about recession-resistant,” Lavigne said.

She believes that the emerging brand will focus on finding the right franchisees in order to grow. Before committing to a newer brand, Lavigne advises potential investors to evaluate whether the franchise aligns with their preferences, as it requires an early adopter mindset to recognize its potential.

Lavigne and Pet Franchising

Resting Rainbow isn’t Lavigne’s first time working with an emerging pet franchisor. Prior to joining Resting Rainbow, she was franchise development manager for Woofie’s, a mobile grooming and dog walking franchise. She has also held franchise development positions with Authority Brands, Homewatch CareGivers, and Driven Brands.
