June 21, 2006 - James A. Flynn, president and chief executive officer of Wingstop Restaurants Inc., was recognized by Ernst & Young as the top entrepreneur in the Retail and Consumer Products category in the 2006 Southwest Area Entrepreneur of the Year Awards on June 17 in Dallas. He is now among the finalists for the national award to be announced in November in Palm Springs, Calif.

According to Ernst & Young, the award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic and growing businesses. Previous Southwest Area North award winners include Dallas Mavericks Owner Marc Cuban, Former Presidential Candidate Ross Perot, Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones and Sonic CEO Cliff Hudson.

Flynn joined Wingstop in 2003 and is responsible for the chicken wing chain’s top line strategy and the company’s full scope of development.

During his tenure, Wingstop has grown from 90 restaurants to more than 550 either open or under development across the country. The chain has also garnered many national awards and recognitions, as well as gained national appeal with the signing of three-time Super Bowl champion and NFL Hall of Fame inductee Troy Aikman as the company’s spokesman.

“The award may have had my name on it, but it should have read ‘to all the team members at Wingstop Restaurants Inc.’ This recognition never would have been possible without everyone’s hard work and dedication,” said Flynn. “I’m proud of the shape the company has taken, and at the same time I’m very excited about the direction Wingstop is headed. We’re not the type to rest on what we’ve already accomplished.”

Flynn has also worked as president of Al Copeland Enterprises, the parent company of Popeyes Famous Fried Chicken and Biscuits and Church’s Chicken. He earned his M.B.A. in Finance at Harvard Business School, and received his B.S. in General Engineering/Mathematics from the United States Naval Academy.

About Wingstop:

Wingstop offers restaurants with a nostalgic, aviation-themed atmosphere where the sole focus is on chicken wings. The chain now serves boneless wings that are made from 100 percent all-white meat chicken breast coated with a proprietary batter and breading. Wingstop features nine wing flavors, including Original Hot, Cajun, Atomic, Mild, Teriyaki, Lemon Pepper, Hawaiian, Garlic Parmesan, and Hickory Smoked BBQ. The wings are always made-to-order and served steaming hot. Customers can also choose from homemade side dishes including fresh-cut seasoned fries, bourbon baked beans, pearl potato salad, creamy cole slaw, vegetable sticks, rolls and assorted dipping sauces.

Wingstop has more than 550 restaurants either open or under development in 25 states and consistently tops industry growth rankings. Wingstop was chosen Festival Favorite Restaurant at the 2005 National Buffalo Wing Festival and their Cajun sauce took first place honors for the Best Creative Spicy Sauce in the festival’s blind taste test. In July 2005, Wingstop ranked No. 13 in Restaurant Business’ Top 50 Growth Chains (ranked by percentage increase in units) and was ranked the No. 1 chicken wing chain by Entrepreneur magazine in 2005. Troy Aikman, three-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame inductee, signed on as the chain’s national spokesman in 2003.
