June 7, 2006 - Newport News, VA, June 6, 2006—Firkin Group of Pubs, the largest and fastest growing pub chain in the United States, is coming to the new “City Center at Oyster Point” in Newport News, Va. Harry Daniel, a Suffolk resident of 12 years, bought the franchise rights to develop three Firkin Pubs in the area and will open the first in mid June.

“When I came across The Firkin Group of Pubs I was looking for a strong pub concept with good food that I could really get into with my son,” says Daniel. “Since I was familiar with the beer industry and Firkin seemed to fit into the Hampton Roads area, we were a perfect match.”

Daniel, a former Packaging Quality Assurance Manager for Anheuser-Busch, will open all three Firkin Pubs with his son, Greg.

Named the 2005 “Best Pub in Toronto” by Toronto Sun Readers, The Firkin Group of Pubs is one of the most popular neighborhood pub chains in Canada and recently captured the title of the largest growing pub chain in the United States. Serving spectacular food in a friendly, pub-like atmosphere it draws families, students and professionals alike.

Firkin has open pubs in five states Michigan, New York, Illinois, Texas, Florida and over 150 currently in development throughout out the country. The Newport News location is the second of three Firkin pubs to open in Virginia in 2006—the first opened in South Riding May 22 and the third will open at Dulles Airport.
