June 2, 2006 - Ovenu, the UK oven valeting franchise, has continued its global expansion plans with the establishment of a master licence in France.
Stephen Halston, originally from Jersey, will now offer Ovenu’s specialist cleaning service in the Province of Brittany in North-Western France and will act as a ‘master licensee,’ recruiting individual franchisees to roll out the service into other parts of the country.
The deal marks the awarding of Ovenu’s third international master licence, after its franchise model was established in the United States in March 2006, and successfully introduced in Perth, Western Australia, in early 2005.
Stephen, who previously spent 20 years working as an accountant in the UK, has been planning to introduce the Ovenu concept in France for more than a year, ever since he and his family, wife Sharon and daughters Victoria, 10, and Emma, eight, first relocated.
The environmentally-friendly service, which involves dismantling key components of an oven such as the door, interior panels, and shelves, takes around three hours to complete, using specialist non-caustic products.
For the next six months Stephen will focus on piloting this service in the Morbihan area of Brittany, but aims to expand the business over the next two years.
Rik Hellewell, managing director of Ovenu, says: “Ovenu has already enjoyed great success in the UK market and we relish the opportunity to explore international markets and drive the business forward.
“Our franchisees have already made an encouraging start in the Australian and American markets and we now foresee similar demand in France and other parts of Europe.
“Ovenu’s 12-year development in the UK has allowed the service to become easily replicable anywhere around the world and, with the support of our franchise model, I am sure that Stephen will make great progress in France.”
Stephen says: “The Ovenu concept is something entirely new in France and I am looking forward to making a real mark on the country.
“Although there are undoubtedly cultural differences between the French and UK markets, I believe that there is plenty of demand for the service both from the locals, and holiday home or rental property owners.
“It has taken me a while to get to this stage, tackling French legality and red-tape, but I am now ready to embark on the business challenge and I am looking forward to generating new business as soon as possible.”
