September 26, 2012 - The opening of Rainbow Academy of Westwood not only marks an exciting new childcare and early childhood education offering to the parents of Bergen County, it represents the New Jersey-based company’s unwavering dedication to serving the needs of a growing number of working parents. Firmly founded upon a unique “Circle of Care” approach to childcare, Rainbow Academy treats the needs of the parents it serves as an equally important component as the care and education of their children. In doing so, this rising franchise company of early learning centers has built a solid reputation among local families. The sad truth is, many parents today must contend with the stress of juggling career and family – a never-ending struggle the company’s founder hears about time and time again.
“When my wife and I opened our first Rainbow Academy in the late 1990’s, we were wise to listen to the needs of parents,” explains Guy Falzarano, President of Rainbow Academy. “We began offering special features like extended hours, exceptional security measures, enhanced program offerings, and a state-of-the-art digital parent portal so working moms and dads could still feel like a part of their child’s school day. Each strategically planned change was immediately met with resounding acclaim from the families we serve. Word quickly spread, and before we knew it – we were 11 centers strong, with more on the way. When it comes to their kids, parents should be able to enjoy their choices and not have to contend with a juggling act.”
Rainbow Academy of Westwood owners and parents Anthony and Brenda Febbo understand that juggling act all too well. Several years ago, Brenda was managing a fast-paced advertising agency in Manhattan while pregnant with her second child. She and her husband, Anthony hired a nanny to watch their two-year-old son at home during the day hoping to provide their child with a higher quality of care and themselves with some much-needed peace of mind. All that changed in the blink of an eye when their son managed to push through a screen door and wander off while the nanny’s back was turned. After a search of the neighborhood, their little boy Nicholas was found safe and sound by the New Jersey Police Department, albeit dangerously close to Route 3 – a happy ending that could have all too easily become tragic.
This terrifying experience forced Anthony and Brenda to take a long hard look at their priorities, careers and childcare choices. Brenda’s search led her to Rainbow Academy – first as a parent, and eventually as an employee. Son Nicholas and daughter Mia are both graduates of Rainbow Academy of Rutherford. Brenda has quickly risen through the ranks from freelance marketing consultant to Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Rainbow Academy. She and her husband became such believers in the concept that they are now the proud franchisees of the Westwood center. Not only is this newest Rainbow Academy center located in Bergen County, but the owners and director are Bergen County residents – The Febbos reside in Rutherford and Director Danielle Briody lives in Ridgewood. Brenda and Anthony finally found the balance and peace of mind they were seeking through Rainbow Academy, and both look forward to offering the same to other Bergen County parents following the September 2012 opening of the Westwood center.
Located at the corner of Green Avenue and Kinderkamack Road, the Westwood Center features the family-centered company’s unique approach to early education and childcare, paired with cutting edge technology such as Interactive Whiteboards in every pre-k and kindergarten classroom to bring traditional learning to life and ParentView® Internet Monitoring to enable parents to stay connected with their children throughout the day.
“We are so excited to open our doors and start welcoming families to our Westwood Center,” says new franchisee, Brenda Febbo. “My husband and I are thrilled to embark on this new adventure with families in Bergen County, as we seek to make a difference in the lives of parents and their children through excellent programming and a deep understanding of their needs. We are currently enrolling and will be hosting Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, September 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature lots of kid-friendly activities like a bubble party from 11 to 12:30 p.m. followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, plus games, crafts, face painting, balloons, food, drinks and much more. We invite everyone to come out, take a tour of the facility, and witness the Rainbow Academy difference first hand.”
The opening of the Westwood Center marks the fourth Bergen County location for Rainbow Academy – with other centers in Fair Lawn, Rutherford, and Mahwah. In total, Rainbow Academy is currently comprised of thirteen centers – employing over 350 team members serving more than 1800 children across New Jersey in Bergen, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Morris, Monmouth and Union counties. Earlier this month, Rainbow Academy opened another new center in North Brunswick, New Jersey. Despite its continued growth, Rainbow Academy strives to set itself apart from “cookie cutter” childcare facilities by putting the “care” back in childcare.
