July 16, 2012 - Peterborough, Ontario -- MEDIchair Trent is the latest recipient of EPIC Ventures awarded by The Greater Peterborough Area Economic Development Corporation (GPA EDC)’s Business Advisory Centre. EPIC (Entrepreneurs Proudly Investing in our Community) Ventures is a program that recognizes the Peterborough region’s small business community’s contribution to economic growth, quality of life and creative business opportunities.

In presenting the EPIC Ventures award to MEDIchair Trent, the GPA EDC cited the fact that since starting the business nearly four and a half years ago, the Seiderers have doubled both the size of their showroom and the number of employees. Originally employing six people when they started in 2008, they now employ 10 and are expanding their market to include Northumberland. In addition to growing a strong business, the Seiderers have demonstrated a strong commitment to the community through their many volunteer events, donations and buying locally whenever possible.

The GPA EDC also noted that MEDIchair’s 4500 square foot show room (originally 2700 sq. ft.) with a drive-in service bay, supports their wide range of home-medical products and increased service delivery that also includes installations of alternate hand controls and sales of new and gently used modified vehicles. Over the past four and a half years Ron Seider has completed (and is continuing to upgrade) his TSSA license that allows MEDIchair to offer commercial installations of accessible lifts/elevators without relying on installers coming from Toronto. This decreases the cost of the installation and means that local emergency service can be provided quickly. The GPS EDC also explained that Medichair is dedicated to providing a high level of expertise on their products and ensures its services are completed to exacting standards. They continue to increase their product line and are expanding to offer home oxygen and CPAP services.

For winning the award, MEDIchair Trent receives promotional prize pack that includes a “My Peterborough” radio feature on the KRUZ FM, a profile on PTBOCanada.com, quarter page colour advertisement in the Peterborough Examiner, a profile in The Business Beat and a one hour social media consultation.
