July 6, 2011 - Johannesburg, 01 July 2011 – Maxi’s is elated to be reopening the Maxi’s Nylstroom store under the trusted management of Natie and Charmaine Snyman, following the store’s closure in September 2010. Having been the owners of Maxi’s Lephalale restaurant in Polokwane for almost two years, Natie and Charmaine have a successful recipe to rejuvenate the new store to its full potential.

“A little more than two years ago, Maxi’s Lephalale was in a similar predicament as Maxi’s Nylstroom; negligible franchisee involvement and minimal customer relationships. However, Natie and Charmaine were able to revitalise the store through sound business management and operations. Community involvement and establishing the Maxi’s brand in targeted industries and local businesses saw a major turnaround for the store,” says Christo Calitz, CEO of Taste Holdings Food Division.

Natie and Charmaine say that their key components to running a successful franchise include a hands on approach to their store, creating meaningful relationships with the community and a well-trained work force alongside incentive programmes. “We have always believed in the paramount importance of staff incentives, from our waiters to our grillers, and will continue to do this on an ongoing basis.

“Charmaine and I will endeavour to spend most of our time split equally between our two stores. This will not only ensure optimum owner exposure, but we will be able to continuously encourage customer relations, staff motivation and maximise our marketing campaign,” says Natie.

Maxi’s Nylstroom’s focus for the next few months will be changing the community perception of the store by appealing to the youth and senior citizens, “Without both target groups we would not have a future,” continues Natie.

“With Maxi’s Lephalale, we became involved with local schools by helping raise funds for activities such as school tours. We would like the Maxi’s Nylstroom store to have a similar synergy with the community. By offering senior citizens our exclusive 15% discount and catering to children’s birthday parties, we believe this is achievable,” says Natie.

“The closure of a Maxi’s store is always disheartening as franchise development is a vital element in Maxi’s strategic approach. As such, we are delighted that the Maxi’s Nylstroom store is in operation once again and we look forward to seeing the turnaround that Natie and Charmaine are renowned for,” concludes Calitz.

For more information on Maxi’s, please visit their website at www.maxis.co.za.
