June 22, 2010 - Arlington, VA — Elevation Burger, a Northern Virginia based chain known for its tasty organic burgers and patented fresh cut fries cooked in olive oil, will be opening their first Middle Eastern outlet in October in the Avenues Mall in Kuwait.
The Avenues Mall is Kuwait’s largest mall and one of the Middle East’s premier retail and leisure destinations. The Avenues Mall opened in April of 2007 and is located in Kuwait’s bustling Al Rai District. The Avenues Mall is currently 2.5 million square feet and will be over 3 million square feet when finished. The Avenue’s Mall tenant roster boasts Ikea, Carrefour Hypermarket, 10-screen Cineplex, retailers such as H&M, Zara, Banana Republic, Gap and other leading retailers. Elevation Burger will join over 100 restaurants, including other highly successful American brands as PF Chang’s, Dean & DeLuca, Starbucks and La Pain Quotidien.
“This is a great step in expanding the Elevation Burger vision internationally and ideally more and more of our locations will be developed in projects like The Avenues. The Avenues is designed to reflect natural forms and elements of the deserts, to maximize the use of natural light and balance style with energy efficiency. These elements are all congruent with Elevation Burger, our sustainable and energy efficient inspired construction philosophy and menu featuring organic, 100% grass fed beef burgers and award winning fries cooked in heart healthy olive oil,” said Hans Hess, founder of Elevation Burger. “We’ve received interest from entrepreneurs in other Middle Eastern countries, so we anticipate expansion elsewhere in the region in the very near future.”
“We're excited to bring Elevation Burger to Kuwait and provide Kuwaitis with a healthy and tasty option for dining. Elevation Burger in Kuwait will be located at Phase II of The Avenues and we will be expanding throughout Kuwait,” Ali Askkanani, CEO and MD of TABCo International Food Catering, the franchisee for Elevation Burger in Kuwait.
Elevation Burger expects to have a total of 15 to 20 restaurants operating by the end of 2010, with over 60 total new restaurants in development. At its current growth rate, Elevation Burger expects to have 100 locations nationwide by the end of 2013. Fransmart, the company that helped launch the ultra successful Five Guys Burgers & Fries chain, is leading the franchise development plans for Elevation Burger.
Elevation Burger was recently featured on CNBC’s special report “People, Planet, and Profit” with reporting by CNBC's Bertha Coombs. AOL Small Business named the burger chain one of the most innovative in the country and Fast Casual Magazine ranked it as the Top 100 Movers & Shakers for 2009. Elevation Burger has received consumer awards in prestigious publications such as Washingtonian magazine and The Washington Post as “best shake” and “best burger” nominees, and the concept was a semi-finalist in Washingtonian’s heated “2009 Best Burger Bracket.” Founder Hans Hess received the “Green Business Visionary” award in 2008 from the Washington Business Journal, and the 2009 Green Business Award from Washingtonian Magazine in May of 2009.
