May 7, 2008 - Leading greeting card publisher and franchisor, Card Connection, has announced that its Chelmsford franchisee, Paul Davis has just doubled the size of his business with the acquisition of the neighbouring Colchester territory.

“Our greeting card distribution franchises have always been particularly popular,” confirms Robina Every, managing director of Card Connection. “However, we are seeing a growing trend where our existing franchisees are snapping up neighbouring territories if they become available. This allows franchisees to expand their businesses very rapidly – taking advantage of what is effectively a recession-proof industry.”

Card Connection itself is one of the UK’s largest card publishers and is the market leader in the franchised distribution of greeting cards. Using a proven system, franchisees place greeting card ranges in retail outlets on a ‘consignment’ basis. The merchandising service provided to retailers by local franchisees is second to none and has established the company’s excellent reputation especially within the convenience sector. Card Connection supplies numerous national accounts, which include the likes of Total, Costcutter, Budgens, Londis, Spar and Shell.

Because the franchise networks in the UK and Ireland are complete, the available opportunities now consist of acquiring an already-established territory from an existing franchisee. These vary in price according to their level of development, but start at £20,000 (+ stock) with earnings potential in excess of £50,000 per annum.

“Paul is our fourth franchisee to purchase an additional Card Connection territory in the past twelve months,” continues Every. “Prior to joining Card Connection he was an experienced business manager and these skills have clearly allowed him to assess the potential in our award winning franchise operation.” Paul now runs both the Chelmsford and Colchester Card Connection franchise regions along with his wife and two helpers.
