September 21, 2007 - Whichfranchise is an internet-based resource offering high quality information on all aspects of franchising. It has its origin in the UK where it is well established. The South African arm was launched in May 2006 and was an instant hit with the South African public.
During the first year after the website’s existence, page hits rose from a modest 12 000 recorded during the first month after the launch to an impressive 79 500 recorded during August 2007. The respected search engine Google, which tracks this sort of thing, was suitably impressed. They announced that whichfranchise.co.za has become South Africa’s most frequently accessed resource on franchising. Whichfranchise.co.za is a joint venture between Franchising Plus and Absa Bank. The site offers the following services: Fast and easy access to general information on franchising that is of relevance to the South African market, including a special section of interest to women in franchising. A listing of about 180 screened franchise opportunities. A choice of two electronic newsletters which appear monthly and are distributed by subscription, free of charge. They are of interest to prospective and established franchisors and franchisees respectively and the combined number of subscribers has just passed the 15 000 mark. A service named “Ask an expert”. Although this service is free, it is by no means a motley collection of stock answers to FAQs. Rather, each question receives an individual response compiled by a member of a panel of leading franchise experts. In response to requests from the public, a printed version of whichfranchise has become available and can be purchased from CNA outlets country-wide. Happy Birthday, Whichfranchise.co.za, and here’s hoping that you will continue to go from strength to strength!
