Strong Support and a Diverse Culture Attracted Franchisee Tim May to the Painting Franchise

Tim May is wowed by the assistance Color World Painting has provided while he nurtures his young Ohio franchise. “The best part of owning a Color World franchise has been the kindness and tremendous support from the Color World headquarters team and forming new relationships with the team and newly found painting crews,” May says.
Established in 1997, Color World stands out in the residential and commercial painting industry because it offers many revenue streams to franchisees: power washing, gutter installation, minor dry wall and carpentry work, and holiday lighting. The company also is known for striving to promote diversity and inclusiveness in franchising.

No Experience Needed
Color World franchisees don’t need painting experience, although May – who was a fireman and paramedic for 11 years – has done remodeling for about six years and established his other company, Flippin Fireman LLC, more than three years ago. Like other Color World Painting franchisees, he went through a five-week pre-training program.
May has laid a solid foundation for Color World Painting of NW Canton, which he opened in August 2022. “My growth strategy has been very basic – form great relationships with my painting crews and customers and make sure excellent work is being done. That will make happy and pleased customers, which will lead to referrals and word-of-mouth for more jobs, more signs in yards creating more notice and business opportunities. I take every opportunity given for more jobs. I have also joined a networking group and done some own my own marketing in addition to what Color World already provides.”

May’s franchise represents the diversity that Color World espouses: He has a female office manager and runs four paint crews “composed of young and old, male and female, a few husband-and-wife teams. We serve customers of every ethnicity and areas of low income and very wealthy neighborhoods,” May says.
“Color World is a very diverse company with a diverse franchise community. There are franchises all over the country– Ohio, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, Colorado, Texas and more. There are both younger and older franchise owners. We have Hispanic franchise owners as well as many Hispanic painters. There are several different ethnicities in many different positions. We also have many females throughout the company and many in leadership and managerial positions – some own franchises.”
Color World Painting Franchise Opportunity

As part of its pro-diversity initiatives, Color World Painting – part of the Authority Brands umbrella franchise –has joined the International Franchise Association’s DiversityFran Program, which promotes opportunity in franchising by educating and recruiting to industry ranks. Color World discounts its first franchise fee for minorities, women, and honorably discharged American and Canadian veterans.
“Color World Painting will give anyone interested in a franchise an opportunity, no matter who you are, where you’re from or what you look like,” May says. “They have a wonderful program in place and make owning a franchise an extremely easy process. It’s an amazing company to work for and being a franchisee is like becoming part of a family. They are there for you and do whatever they can to help no matter what the circumstance. I wish I would have joined the Color World family many years ago. Owning a franchise is easily one of the best decisions I have made.”
