The Industry Veteran’s Appointment Comes as the Eco-Friendly Junk Removal Franchise Celebrates its 20th Anniversary
The Junkluggers, an eco-conscious junk removal company under the Authority Brands umbrella, has tapped Justin Waltz as president. This announcement comes as The Junkluggers brand celebrates its 20th anniversary. Waltz brings more than a decade of junk removal and franchising experience to the role.
Waltz said The Junkluggers appealed to him because of its commitment to environmental responsibility and exceptional customer service. “The brand doesn’t just ‘talk the talk’ – it provides top-notch junk removal services nationwide while positively impacting the planet through responsible disposal, recycling initiatives and local charity partnerships,” Waltz said. He added that his passion for sustainability also coincides with The Junkluggers’ mission of enhancing lives, communities and the environment by donating, recycling and supporting local charities.
As president, Waltz said his key focus is on building relationships with franchise owners and understanding ways to improve the business. “I’ve even created four pillars of success to help grow our business, all of which are franchisee-focused. These are franchisee growth, profitability, fulfillment and engagement. Since these franchise owners chose to franchise with The Junkluggers, it’s incredibly important to me that we are exceeding expectations and bettering the business for them.”

Leanne Stapf, executive vice president of Authority Brands, said Waltz’s leadership experience and work in the junk removal business make him the perfect fit for the role of president. “We cannot say enough good things about Justin,” she said. “This year marks a new chapter for The Junkluggers and we couldn’t be more excited about the future of this impressive brand under Justin’s guidance.”
Sustainable Junk Removal
Waltz is optimistic about The Junkluggers’ growth trajectory because of Authority Brands’ dedication to franchise success, as well as the crucial service provided by the junk removal industry. “As consumers, the need to recycle, rehome and divert waste from landfills is stronger than ever before. What attracted me to junk removal is that it’s fun, fulfilling and changing the world. I love working side by side with energetic luggers and empowering local business owners who are passionate about giving back to their communities.”
Starting as a truck driver for 1-800-GOT-JUNK in 2005 gave Waltz invaluable insights into the industry from the ground up. His job experience also includes serving in leadership positions with College HUNKS Hauling Junk and Moving and as managing director of franchise operations for Big Blue Swim School and its parent company, L5 Capita.
Waltz said his appreciation for junk removal dates to his time as a student at Towson University. “As a college kid on a budget, refurbishing items became essential for me and my friends. We saved a lot from college housing, furnishing our apartments with coolers, refrigerators, couches and more.”
