Eli Orenstein Draws from On-the-Ground Experience to Propel the Fencing Franchise Forward

Eli Orenstein headed toward a career in the music business but took a sharp right turn into entrepreneurship. “I loved the idea of a home services company and bought the then-3-year-old fence business in 2021,” says Orenstein, who founded the Stand Strong Fencing brand and today is a franchisee. The fence installation company provides customers with a wide selection of fencing materials, from wooden boards to durable metal ornamentals to secure chain links and long-lasting vinyl. Styles range from starkly modern to traditional.

“I learned the business, and pretty early in, I saw the need for software. So I developed it,” Orenstein says. “Two years ago, I ran the business off the software and thought it would be a good opportunity for franchising.

“I got connected with HorsePower Brands, and we kept the conversation going,” says Orenstein, whose franchise is in Nashville, Tenn. “I liked the vision and caring of franchising. I was sold and partnered with HorsePower to begin franchising in 2023. We’re off to the races with 21 signed franchise agreements. The first two locations are just now opening.”

Strong Leadership

That’s only the beginning, he says. “Stand Strong Fencing has a solid business model within a robust industry. There are lots of opportunities and strong demand. It’s a needs-driven business.” As in: People need to keep their dogs and kids in their backyards and safeguard their swimming pools. They want privacy around their hot tubs. They need porch and deck railings to meet code and safety standards.

Orenstein adds that Stand Strong is all the better with HorsePower as a parent franchisor. “HorsePower brings great support and resources to the brand. They’re not just selling, but supporting. It’s a top-tier organization.” Stand Strong Fencing outshines the competition in two key ways, he says. First off is responsiveness. “You wouldn’t believe how many competitors don’t answer the phone or show up. Stand Strong Fencing excels in customer experience from start to finish.”

We make sure we understand our customers’ needs and help them make decisions.

And second, Stand Strong franchisees provide an educational component to assist their customers. “We’re not just order-takers. We make sure we understand our customers’ needs and help them make decisions.” Both of these factors figure into the brand’s success. “We have over 200 five-star reviews, and we hope that new franchisees generate the same results and build a great national brand,” Orenstein says.

Those franchisees often are fleeing the corporate world “and looking for something they can build for themselves and pass on to their kids,” he says. Stand Strong Fencing is primarily a B2C company but also performs B2B services. “The majority of franchisees will have mostly residential clients.”

Onboarding Process

Stand Strong Fencing has a thorough onboarding process that encompasses video training, web call sessions and a weeklong in-person course. The affordable franchise is typically home-based, although the franchisee may opt to open a brick-and-mortar site once growth takes off, Orenstein says. Stand Strong Fencing uses subcontractors to fulfill contracts, and some franchisees hire a salesperson.
