The nutrition coaching franchise adds a new niche concept to the mix of SEB’s health and wellness brands

Self Esteem Brands (SEB), which is the parent company of several health and wellness concepts including Anytime Fitness, The Bar Method, Basecamp Fitness and Waxing the City, has announced its acquisition of Stronger U, a nutrition-based health coaching service. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition makes SEB the only global fitness corporation to offer consumers digital personalized nutrition-based health coaching services, according to a report on BusinessWire.com. Six-year-old Stronger U has helped 50,000-plus members to reach their objectives for improved health and nutrition, tapping the global wellness market that is expected to be $5.8 trillion this year, based on a projection by Credit Suisse.

SEB’s portfolio of health-related brands offers consumers a wealth of services – from fitness and personal wellness services to individualized nutrition and health coaching. With more than 5 million members globally across its fitness and wellness brands, SEB can help Stronger U to scale up and improve its exposure to much larger pool of consumers, giving Stronger U the opportunity to snag a heftier share of the digitally-based nutrition health coaching market.

Via digital access, Stronger U provides personalized advice, encouraging support, step-by-step guidance and programs, nutrition information, and a dedicated live, certified coach. Stronger U’s science-based nutrition education helps clients improve their dietary and eating skills. The Stronger U app allows clients to chart their progress toward their goals, which include weight loss.

For now, Stronger U will continue to function as a standalone brand while SEB considers options for blending Stronger U’s coaching services with its other fitness brands, according to the BusinessWire.com article. Self Esteem Brands’ stated mission is to improve the self-esteem of the world. Its Anytime Fitness brand was founded in 2002 as the first 24-hour fitness center franchise concept. Most of SEB’s 5,000 franchise locations are locally operated across 32 nations, according to SEB. The parent company’s charitable focus is through the HeartFirst Foundation.
