Shimek Applies More than 20 Years of Experience in Leading the Youth Sports Franchisor

i9 Sports, a youth sports provider and franchisor owned by Youth Enrichment Brands, has named Ron Shimek president. Utilizing his 20-plus years of leadership experience with Neighborly, Northcott Hospitality and Carlson Companies, Shimek leads i9 Sports’ strategic direction, with a focus on scaling operations and strengthening consistency across the franchise system.

“i9 Sports stood out right away because of its purpose-driven model,” Shimek said. “It is a growing business, but it is also making a real impact on kids and families. That combination is rare. As I learned more about the brand, the team and the opportunity to build on a strong foundation, it felt like a natural fit. There is already strong momentum here, so I am excited to help scale that in a thoughtful way. That means strengthening operations, supporting franchisees and expanding into new communities while staying true to what makes the brand special.”

He emphasized the importance of Youth Enrichment Brands’ role in driving i9 Sports’ growth. “Youth Enrichment Brands brings a broader platform, shared resources and a long-term vision that allows us to move faster and smarter. There is a real advantage to being part of a larger organization that understands both franchising and youth-focused programming and shares a mission to improve the lives of kids across the country. It allows us to invest in growth while maintaining a strong operational backbone.”

Shimek’s appointment, along with that of Jeremy Oliver as vice president of operations, comes as i9 Sports focuses on expanding its national footprint.

Rob Price, CEO of Youth Enrichment Brands, said Shimek and Oliver bring a deep understanding of what it takes to support franchisees and create great experiences for families. “As we grow, we’re focused on staying true to our purpose while continuing to expand access to programs that help kids build confidence and connection,” Price said.

Leading a Team

Shimek said leadership means creating clarity, building trust and empowering others to do their best work. “I believe in being data-driven but people-first. When you build strong teams and give them the right tools and direction, the results follow.”

Shimek lives in Minnesota with his wife and four children. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys spending time on the lake, in the woods or — depending on the season — on his snowmobile.
