Tech-Forward, Customer-Focused Brand Aims to Disrupt Industry
- Puddle Pool Services was founded to provide excellent customer experiences powered by state-of-the-art technology.
- Brand advantages include comprehensive training, centralized marketing support, a call center, recurring revenue and fast scaling.
- Ideal Puddle Pool franchisees are outgoing, capable leaders. They also should be ambitious, confident and energetic.
Mark Amery founded the Puddle Pool Services franchise based on the concept that pool and spa care should be easily arranged and efficiently completed. As a frustrated homeowner, he learned that those things were easier said than done. “I realized there was a huge gap in the market for professional, tech-forward, customer-focused pool maintenance,” Amery says. “Pool care shouldn’t be a headache.”
Sniffing opportunity, the serial entrepreneur (he also started Toodaloo Pest & Wildlife Control and Gorilla Property Services) launched Puddle Pool Services in 2018. For four-plus years, he and his team worked to perfect the business model to ensure customer satisfaction and franchisee success. “We built Puddle Pool to be the brand people could trust. We have clean trucks, sharp uniforms and a service experience that feels more like a luxury concierge than a typical pool guy. Our charges are transparent, including the cost of chemicals and equipment usage, so customers aren’t hit with surprise costs.”
Technology Focus
Franchising began in late 2022. “We bring a hospitality-level customer experience to a service industry that’s been largely overlooked,” Amery says. “Most pool companies still operate like it’s 1995, but Puddle operates like it’s 2030. We’re a modern, tech-driven brand built on systems, not chaos.”
Foremost among the technology are the Puddle Power customer relationship management (CRM) system and mobile apps that provide customers with digital updates. The brand is an “executive service model,” Amery says. “Franchise owners oversee operations and team development while our corporate systems handle online marketing, client calls and provide technical support. This lets our owners focus on growing, not grinding.
“It’s for people who want to own a real business, not just a job. It’s simple, clean and built to scale fast. We’re also expanding into eco-friendly products and smart-pool tech, because sustainability and innovation are the future of this space.”
Other Puddle Pool Advantages
In addition, franchisees appreciate that Puddle Pool “is fresh, fun and proven,” he says. “Puddle sits in a rare, sweet spot: essential service meets lifestyle brand meets recurring-revenue model with strong margins.” Owners service homes, apartments, hotels – anywhere – handling regular pool and spa maintenance along with pool installations, leak detection and repairs, liner replacements, safety covers, and pool openings and closings.
Amery sees vast potential for the Puddle Pool franchise because “North America is booming with new pools, spas and backyard investments,” all requiring upkeep. The business research company Arizton confirms that assessment, pegging the U.S. pool maintenance and cleaning services market at $8.08 billion in 2023 and predicting it will be worth more than $10.3 billion by 2029.
Puddle Pool’s founder says his brand is well-positioned within that market because “most competitors still lack the polish, tech and brand identity of the Puddle Pool franchise. The quality of our services comes from our training, support, technology and culture.” Business success requires all of those elements, something Amery says he learned during several years working in entrepreneurship, leadership and brand-building, much of it within the home services industry. “Those early experiences taught me that success isn’t about being everywhere at once. It’s about creating clarity, culture and accountability so that other people can thrive within your framework.
“I set the tone and share the vision of Puddle Pool. After that, I get out of people’s way so they can execute. We have franchise partners, not franchisees. We’ve built a tight, collaborative culture in which the franchisor isn’t ‘above’ the franchisees, but right alongside them. The Puddle system is designed to make everyday people extraordinary operators.
The Puddle Pool Playbook
By adhering to Puddle Pool’s proven system, he says every franchisee can be extraordinary. “Each franchise location follows the same playbook from chemical balancing to client communication, backed by real-time job tracking, checklists and photo verification. We’re obsessive not only about standards, but also about connection. People remember how you make them feel, not just how clear their pool water is.
“For someone looking to build something of their own with structure, training and national support behind them, Puddle is a chance to make a splash in a category that’s wide open for disruption.” Amery says ideal Puddle owners are “people leaders, not necessarily pool pros. They’re outgoing, coachable and driven to build teams. We can teach the technical stuff all day long, but we can’t teach attitude. We look for franchisees who are confident, energetic, want to grow a real business with purpose, and think big.”
