Acquisition broadens the company’s outdoor services offerings

Outdoor Living Brands, which franchises residential and commercial outdoor living services, has acquired Superior Fence & Rail, a 20-year-old company with 36 locations in the United States. Outdoor Living Brands also is the umbrella franchisor for Archadeck Outdoor Living, Conserva Irrigation and Outdoor Lighting Perspectives. The acquisition of Superior Fence & Rail marks the first Outdoor Living Brands deal since it was acquired by LYNX Franchising, which is composed of both business-to-business (B2B) services and residential services. LYNX Franchising in turn is a portfolio company of MidOcean Partners, an active investor in the franchise industry.

Zach Peyton, who co-founded Superior Fence & Rail in 2001, said of the acquisition: “We are proud of the business we’ve built and now look forward to aligning with Outdoor Living Brands, LYNX Franchising and MidOcean Partners to help continue to build the brand in the years ahead.” Since 2019, Superior Fence & Rail’s system-wide sales have tripled, and just in the past year, sales have doubled, according to a statement released by the company. “The brand is well-positioned to continue this momentum,” Peyton said in the statement, “with strong franchisee unit economics, strong leadership, world class customer satisfaction, and a proven track record of growth and profitability.” He will continue to lead the franchise system as brand president.

Scott Zide, who is president and chief operating officer of Outdoor Living Brands, praised the continuity in leadership at Superior Fence & Rail, saying: “As we’ve spent more time with Zach over the past several months, it’s become clear that we have a shared philosophy that good franchising starts with strong unit-level economics. Zach has a franchisee-first mindset and will be an ideal cultural fit with the Outdoor Living Brands team.”

Superior Fence & Rail began as an Orlando company operating on a local basis. During its two-decade history, it has forged a reputation for fence product specifications that exceed national building codes, the company statement said.

Outdoor Living Brands is known for building and designing porches and decks; design, installation and maintenance of holiday and year-round landscape lighting; and installation and maintenance of conservation-focused irrigation systems. LYNX Franchising brands also include JAN-PRO, a commercial cleaning service; Intelligent Office, a professionally staffed, temporary and virtual office-space franchise for mobile executives and small businesses; and FRSTeam, which handles restoration of fabrics, electronics and more.
