Growing up, Bailee Read didn’t always see eye-to-eye with her mother, Azure White.

What they have always agreed upon is the belief that when you look good … you feel good! So, when it came time to launch a business, beauty franchises were top of mind.

Today, White and Read are mother-daughter entrepreneurs who are opening a trio of Blo Blow Dry Bar sites in the greater Las Vegas area.

Blo Blow Dry Bar helps women feel empowered and put-together with sleek, professional blow outs. Whether it’s for a big presentation, a night out, or a special occasion, Blo offers an affordable way to look and feel polished. Since launching in Canada in 2007, the brand has grown to over 165 locations across the U.S. and Canada, bringing confidence-boosting style to women everywhere.

As a business opportunity, it provided a familiar framework to White and Read.

“For us, there’s a day of the week we set aside in our household to wash and blow out our hair,” says Read. “We know the power of a great blow out.”

“It boosts the self-esteem and overall performance for the week,” adds White, a longtime hairdresser. “We saw Blo Blow Dry Bar as an opportunity to bring our weekly family ritual to the city we all were raised in and love.”

Multi-Unit Ownership

The Las Vegas natives decided on multi-unit openings because of the tremendous growth, and thus, potential in the market. There’s a mix of established locals and new residents, with an influx of young professionals drawn to many of the area’s planned communities, such as Summerlin, where the family will open a Blo franchise.

“The company was just as excited as we are to be bringing locations run by our ‘dream team’ to the city we have seen grow alongside our own family,” White says. “And we’re excited for all the incredible experiences we are about to provide!”

It’s a smart and strategic move. The beauty market is thriving, predicted to grow at 7.8% in North America this year, according to a global report by NielsenIQ. And, the family’s Las Vegas locales are ideal: according to the International Franchise Association’s 2025 Economic Outlook Report, the Southwest region is expected to lead the country in franchise establishments.

Beyond statistics, Read and White see an opportunity to provide a feel-good service with an incredible reputation. “Blo Blow Dry Bar does not replace your hairdresser,” says White. “But I know through my years of working at a full-service salon that there is a need for this and then there is also the need for maintenance styling.”

Business in a Box

When it came to opening their first business, the women say Blo Blow Dry Bar offered many advantages.

“What impressed us most about the corporate team and support system was having a complete package, a ‘business in a box,’ which gave us the resources we needed to get our locations up and running,” Read says. “Like any brand, Blo has been through trials and errors, and they have come out on top, which gives us reassurance that we will come out on top as well.”

For new owners, training, hands-on support, and coaching are available from day one.

Both women also like that the Blo business model allows for expansion as customer demand and the needs of franchisees grow. “We were incredibly impressed with Blo’s corporate team and the infrastructure they’ve built to support their franchisees so that each location can thrive within its community,” says White. “That, combined with the collective skills of our family, gives us the recipe for success.”

Vegas is Built on Hospitality

Both White and Read are also seasoned real estate professionals and Read is an experienced social media pro who has worked for the Four Seasons and HBO Max. Her goal is to showcase Blo Blow Dry Bar’s services and the care they give to each customer through social media and shared experiences.

“Vegas is built on hospitality,” says Read. “Word of mouth and reputation carry weight in this town, and we know our backgrounds as true Vegas locals will help us deliver Vegas-level hospitality,” she says.

Is there ever any friction, as in ‘Mom knows best’?

Nope. This team says their partnership is ideal.

“We always say we have one voice. We have a great personal relationship that has been solidified with trust and respect of each other’s skills,” White says. “And that has continued into our business relationship.”

“We have complete faith in one another that our decisions would match at the end of the day,” Read adds.

A strong relationship and a shared belief in their business plan and purpose will bring them success, says White.

“This is proving to us and the valley that hard work, passion and quality can provide a place where everyone can thrive.”
